What We Can Expect from Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6

It’s almost January. (Not really but let’s pretend it is..) It only means one thing…

Brooklyn 99 is coming back!!!

That faithful day in May, when I thought I would never see my favourite characters on my screen, is still impressed in my mind. I had an epic mental breakdown, only to be followed 30 hours later by a joyous cry, thanking all the TV Gods, NBC, Dan Goor and Michael Schur.

Both the cast and the executive producer Dan Goor have already spilled some details about the upcoming 6th season.

Chelsea Peretti won’t be doing a full 6th season

Chelsea Peretti announced on Twitter that she won’t be doing a full 6th season and I was devastated. Gina Linetti is one of my favourite characters, she has the best lines on the show and obviously the best meme-able expressions.

Absolutely gutten about this. I obviously wish her the best and I can’t wait to watch her future projects!

A Honeymoon Episode

First episode of the season: Jake and Amy on their honeymoon and I cannot wait to see Married Peraltiago interact with their immediate surroundings.

A Hitchcock & Scully Episode

I need to know if Kelly was Hitchcock’s wife or dog. I need to know it. But I adore how co-dependent they are, how they do everything together and I want to know more about their background story.

A #MeToo storyline with Amy

It was recently announced that Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Rosa Diaz, was going to direct an episode! (YAY LATINAS DIRECTING AND WOMEN DIRECTING!!!)

And then Dan Goor, show runner and executive producer, said in an interview that they could do a #MeToo episode and it was announced it will be about Amy Santiago! And I’m here for this! They did mention they were thinking of writing one at the San Diego Comic Con panel but it was importanti for them to do it the right way.

And Brooklyn99 has never shied away from controversial and importanto social topics (I even wrote a whole post about it) and I cannot wait to see it!

Recurring Characters Coming Back

Dan Goor wrote on Twitter that there will be recurring characters coming back on this 6th season! Like KEVIN. Mark Evan Jackson is a treasure and I need more Kevin/Holt scenes.

And I really hope Pimento makes a comeback. I recently discovered there are mixing opinions about him but I LOVE HIM! He is so crazy! And nobody plays Deranged Crazy Creepy Human Being like Jason Mantzoukas.

No News on Gina Rodriguez

We don’t know whether or not Gina Rodriguez will come back to Brooklyn 99 after guest starring in the Peraltiago Wedding episode.

I. Love. Gina. Rodriguez.

I love Jane The Virgin and I love her. Stephanie Beatriz reassured us and said that Rosa’s love life will play a important role in the character and I am here for it. There is a need of more open bisexual characters with GOOD STORYLINES and ACTUAL REPRESENTATION. (I’m looking at you, Roberto. And yes I know I can’t compare

New Promo Pics!

Entertainment Weekly recently release a lot of photos about our favourite New York-based squad! And they are amazing.

The human form of the 100 emoji!

Charles and Gina… So weird…

*read in Doug Judy’s voice* ROSA, ROSA ROOOOSAAAAA!!!

I’m loving that wig!

Manifest – s01 ep 01 – “Pilot” – SERIES PREMIERE

After watching the NBC’s Primetime Preview with the cast of Brooklyn99, I am very familiar with all the shows that NBC offers.

“Manifest” did catch my eye. It felt like an episode of “Fringe”!

It’s about a flight full of passengers that takes off in 2013 and, after some turbulence, mysteriously reappears in 2018. The rest of the world has aged 5 years but for them it has only been a matter of hours.

April 7th, 2013

We see a typical white family at the airport and the narrator, Michaela Stone, (Melissa Roxburgh) tells us who they are: her brother Ben (Josh Dallas), his wife Grace (Athena Karkanis) and their children (Luna Blaise and Jack Messina) (one of them is suffering from leukemia), her parents and she gives us hint about her own personal life.

2018-09-26 (2).png

Apparently she refused a marriage proposal, broke up with her fiancée or something along the lines of that and that she had an “accident” that still gives her nightmares.

Michaela, her brother Ben and his sick son Cal decide to take a later flight while the rest of the family goes home as planned.

Then a pretty bad turbulence happens all of a sudden and as they land, the trio faces an unexpected surprise. They are met by the police and other law enforcement agencies who tells them the date: November 4th, 2018.

They have all been missing for 5 and a half years.

And now everything gets more interesting, spooky and supernatural.

They are finally reunited and while the rest of the family has aged, those who were on the plane did not. Michaela and Ben are met with terrible news: in the 5 years that went by, their mother has died.

The FBI is investigating the mystery and coming up with nothing to explain what went down.

And now we fin out more things about Michaela! She works for the NYPD, her boyfriend/fianceé Jared (J.R. Ramirez) is married to somebody else (her best friend) and there is something in her past that is still left unsaid.

And she keeps hearing voices!

That voice told her “slow down”, she told the bus driver she was in to hit the brakes and she saves a child’s life!

WHAT IS HAPPENING?! This could really be an episode of Fringe! I’m waiting for Olivia Dunham and Peter and Walter Bishop to pop up on my screen. (I miss them so much).

And now her brother hears voices too! Ok, I am intrigued.

WE ALMOST FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED! She was in a car crash in which somebody named Evie died.

One of the other passengers, Saanvi (Parveen Kaur) turns out to be the doctor whose research could help little Cal live.

2018-09-26 (3).png

On the other hand, Michaela keeps hearing the same voice telling her to set a pair of dogs free. Turns out, the dog’s owner had kidnapped two little girls (whose news of the disappearance we had heard before in the background)

On top of that, it seems like Ben’s wife Grace has something to hide. She keeps receiving texts AND her daughter knows what it is all about. (And if you allow me to speculate, so do we. It’s a boyfriend because after 5 years, she rightfully moved on)

Michaela and Ben saved the two little girls who were kidnapped and in the middle of the night, all the people who were on the plane are compelled to come back to the airport and when they do, the plane blows up.

The explosion was super fake and we can see it from a mile away. Even 2008 Doctor Who had better special effects than this.

I told myself I was going to keep this short” says 700 words later.

Even though the plot seems cool and interesting, I am not blown away by the performances.

They are deadpan and the delivery is off.

To me, there is no emotion behind the acting. It is a traumatic experience they have gone through and there is little to no reaction. I would have had a mental breakdown, had this happened to me. And yet, they pick up their life where they had left them and it seems like everybody is okay with it.

There is no reaction whatsoever. I was expecting the characters to react more naturally to what happened. They are already uptodate with all technological devices, have no questions about America’s President, Donald Trump. They don’t seem preoccupied by the fact that they have missed 5 years.

The dialogue is not bad, kind of cheesy but hey, it’s network television. (Had it been more realistic, everybody would have started swearing like sailors). What irritated me was something Michaela’s former boyfriend Jared said: “You still take my breath away.”

I would have punched him in the face. Let alone the fact that he is married, what the fuck, dude? Seriously? You start with the most common and most stupid pick up line ever?! COME ON!

But it’s the plot itself. I would have appreciated it more, if they had diluted the events and concentrated a bit more of the character’s introspective and their feelings.  It’s a bit too much plot-heavy.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and I want to find out what happens next!

If you want to shut your brain off for 40 minutes and don’t question if the writing and acting is good or not, I would recommend it.

Is it my next favourite show? No.

Will I start watching it regularly, week after week? Probably not. Only if I have time and nothing else better to do.

Did you see “Manifest”? What were your thoughts? Will you keep watching? Am I the only one who immediately thought of “Fringe”?

70th Primetime Emmy Awards: Limited Series, Variety and Reality

I’m here and I’m ready.

Last year I was so unprepared! I watched the announcement of the nominations and then straight up forgot about the actual ceremony! But not this time!

I was at the beach and I had even written down my predictions (which were really spot on)!

Two years ago I divided my posts into programs, acting, supporting performances and writing and directing. But this year… It’s in genre category and colour coordinated!

And now let’s talking about Limited Series or Movies, Variety Shows and Reality Programs.

Outstanding Structured Reality Program

  • Antiques Roadshow (PBS)
  • Fixer Upper (HGTV)
  • Lip Sync Battle (Paramout Network)
  • Queer Eye (Netflix)
  • Shark Tank (ABC)

There is literally not doubt.

It’s an amazing show, I’ve cried a thousand times, I love it and it is the best.

2017 Winner: Shark Tank (ABC)

My Winner: Queer Eye (Netflix)

Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series

  • Full Frontal With Samantha Bee (TBS)
  • Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO)
  • Late Night With Seth Meyers (NBC)
  • Saturday Night Live (NBC)
  • The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (CBS)

I can’t choose. I can’t.

I feel like I would betray the others. Although I don’t watch Sam Bee every single week (I can’t seem to remember to check her YouTube channel and I feel like I am being anti-feminist. SHE IS (ALMOST) THE ONLY WOMAN ON LATE NIGHT!!!), her program is so important. She talks about so many important issues!

And I watch Seth and Stephen everyday. Literally every morning. And John Oliver every week. I love them.

And SNL is legendary.

I just can’t. I can’t.

2017 Winner: Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO)

My Winner: All of them.

Outstanding Variety Talk Series

Can I switch James Corden for Seth Meyers?

I really really like James! His show is really funny and the segments are hilarious. I get it, it is the only show that doesn’t talk that much about politics. (Along with Jimmy Fallon). But I feel like Seth has had an amazing year with segments like “Jokes Seth can’t Tell”, “Amber’s minute of fury” and “Amber says WHAT?!”.

I’m sad their efforts and their amazing show will not get recognised. Love you Seth!

That being said, I love Stephen. He is my favourite. I looooooove him.

We all know it’s basically granted John Oliver will win. He and his team deserve it so much.

I’m glad “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” got nominated because he has been doing so great and I feel like he has found his voice.

I love these people.

2017 Winner: Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO)

My Winner: John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Sam Bee, Trevor Noah and in my heart, Seth Meyers.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie

Lead actress in limited series.png

I heard Laura Dern was absolutely magnificent in it and even though I was not able to watch it before this post, I will definitely have to.

I know some of the actress and Sarah Paulson is always a guarantee.

2017 Winner: Nicole Kidman, “Big Little Lies”

My Winner: Laura Dern, “The Tale” (?)

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Series Or Movie

lead actor in liminted series.png

I’ve only seen Darren Criss and Jeff Daniel‘s performances and I have to say they were both brilliant.

I know that if John Legend wins the category, he will be one of the very few people who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Awad (EGOT). Lin-Manuel Miranda would have almost done it last year if his Moana song had won at the Oscars.

2017 Winner: Riz Ahmed, “The Night Of”

My Winner: Darren Criss, “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”

Outstanding Limited Series

limited series.png

I’ve only seen “The Alienist” and “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” so I can’t actually have a proper opinion on this category. I’ve heard Genius is fantastic.

I just haven’t had the time and the will power to watch it. The same with “Godless“. I’m so sick of the Old West environment. Westworld made me reject the entire genre.

2017 Winner: Big Little Liars (HBO)

My Winner: I don’t know.

Here we go! First batch of predictions/reflections are in!

I didn’t want to make these posts too long and I tend to ramble.

Follow me on Twitter and in the next couple of day, you will be able to vote in the polls and let me know who YOU think should win!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine At San Diego’s Comic Con

NBC hasn’t aired an episode yet and it has already done more publicity to the show than FOX in 5 years.

I love NBC right now. Home of the best comedy TV shows ever aired.

There was a panel, loads of interview and Q&A! In case you missed them, here are all the ones I have found!

So much happened at Comic Con and I could not be happier. The show was finally celebrated as it truly deserved, there was so much love from fans (even Mark Hamill in incognito at the panel)

I am so happy for them. And I cannot wait for season 6 to air in 2019 ON FORKING NBC!!!!
