Killing Eve, The Bold Type, Fleabag and Riverdale – Tv Shows I’m Bringing With Me On Holiday – Part 1

It’s finally summer time!

I’ve finished my exam session almost a month ago, the concert I helped organising went perfectly and my birthday was barely acknowledged. (I’m not complaining it’s exactly what I wanted)

3 weeks at the beach, no internet, no people (aside from my extended family) and so much relaxing. I am excited to go. I’m bringing lots of tv shows, books, music… I plan on relaxing from the moment I wake up to the minute I go to sleep.

There is one huge downside: no internet.

Therefore, I have a list of show I’ll be bringing with me.

KILLING EVE

https://mr.comingsoon.it/imgdb/SerieTV/serie/1763/1763.jpgI had heard “Grey’s Anatomy” ‘s Sandra Oh was coming back to TV but I didn’t make a big deal out of it. Until now! I should have kept an eye on it because it is created, produced, directed and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is also behind “Crashing” and “Fleabag” and was in Broadchurch with my main man David Tennant. And not to mention the other protagonist of the show, Jodie Comer. She played Kate in the BBC’s “Doctor Foster”.

I don’t really know what the story is about. I’ve tried to avoid it as much as I could. I want the element of surprise. I know it involves Spies, the MI5 and an assassin. So I’m super intrigued.

THE BOLD TYPE

Risultati immagini per the bold type posterI can’t believe this show escaped me as well! I’ve heard it’s quite a feminist show. (apparently mostly white feminist, but feminist nonetheless.)

It’s inspired by the life of the former Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles. I have no clue who she is and what the magazine is about, so I’m going in knowing nothing. Literally. Apparently, it’s a recurring theme in this post.

I’ve heard people say it’s like a modern version of “The Devil Wears Prada”. I’ll let you know my thoughts!

RIVERDALE

Risultati immagini per riverdale posterI know. I’m trash.

I swore to myself I wasn’t going to watch this. But my sister is kind of buddy-watching it with one of her friends and I gave up. This is so addictive. Just like Pretty Little Liars. I should hate this but I love it so much.

It’s so bad. Like, really bad. The acting, the dialogue and directing is garbage but I can’t stop thinking about it. Well done, The CW. Well done.

This show is about Riverdale, a small american town where a young teenage boy dies and secrets start to unravel. It’s basically “Pretty Little Liars” meets “Gossip Girl” (there is an actual narrator Gossip Girl-style) and “Twin Peaks”.

It’s garbage and I love it.

Risultati immagini per b99 holt pure garbage

FLEABAG

Risultati immagini per fleabag posterPhoebe Waller Bridge’s Amazon and BBC Three’s TV show about a woman trying to live her London life after experiencing a tragedy.

I can’t believe I have to say this again but… I know very little about this one too. I know there is Olivia Coleman (KWEEN!!!!) and a racy scene involving her and a video of one of President Obama’s speeches.

It received great reviews so I can’t wait to see it. I say this even though it has been on my TO-WATCH list for at least a year and a half.

Here is part 1 of the list of shows I’ll be bringing with me on holiday. YES, I’M NOT JOSHING AROUND. IT’S PART 1, PEOPLE.

Have you got any recommendation for me? Are there any shows you think more people should watch? Let me know!

You can find me here, or on Twitter or you can send me an email!

June 2018 – Reading TBR (Help Me!)

So… I haven’t read anything recently. Well, not just recently. According to my Goodreads reading challenge, I’m 10 books behind schedule.

10

BOOKS

The last proper book I’ve read is a chick-lit “The Wedding Date” and before that I read “Feminism is for everybody” by Bell Hooks.

That’s it.

If you do not count the adorable children’s book published by HBO’s “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver”, “A Day In The Life Of Marlon Bundo“. It is a story about Marlon Bundo, VP Mike Pence’s bunny, that falls in love with another boy bunny and wants to marry him. If you haven’t already, buy the book . All proceeds go to the Trevor Project and AIDS United.

But now I’m here to share my TBR for the month of June!!

“A Higher Loyalty” by James Comey

35108805I’m obsessed with American Politics. Obsessed. I talk about it constantly. Even on here. And so when the news that the former FBI director, fired by Donald Trump and kickstarter of the Mueller investigation, had written a book, I KNEW I had to get my hands on it.

I’m already halfway through and it is an incredibly interesting story. Not just regarding what happened with Trump, but his life story is pretty gripping. I read almost 150 pages in one sitting. Can’t wait to get to the Donald Trump part!

“Everyday Sexism” by Laura Bates

21251323It’s a collection of different topics all centered around sexism and discrimination against women. Along with data and a lot of information, it narrates a huge variety of stories told by a multitude of women through the internet. In emails, Facebook posts, tweets and more.

At the same time, it’s both a fascinating and horrifying reading. Can’t wait to finish it. I’m almost at the “half” mark.

Not onto the books I haven’t started yet:

“Spring Awakening” by Frank Wedekind

7585I watched NBC’s 10-episode show “Rise” and the kids were staging this play. After listening to the songs and getting a general vibe about what the show is about, I decided I wanted to read the text.

I’ve also tried to find the DVD of the 2006 musical with Lea Michelle and Jonathan Groff, but so far no luck.

“The Hellfire Club” by Jake Tapper

34329347I like CNN anchor Jake Tapper. I don’t get CNN here, but I’ve seen him multiple times on YouTube clips and on Stephen Colbert’s and this book seems interesting.

It’s set in the 1950s, in Washington DC and it tells the story of Charlie Marder, a newly appointed congressman that starts uncovering secret after secret.

I don’t read much historical fiction (like, not at all) but this sounded fun.

Now thing start getting a little tricky. I don’t know what to read. I have a huge TBR but nothing stands out! I have thrillers, YA, chick-lit, politician’s biographies (Hillary Clinton’s), books about feminism, politics, Queen Victoria and so much more!

But I can’t decide! There is so much crap in here. I don’t even now what I put some of these books in there.

I browsed through it and I found some books I might want to read, but please let me know if you have any recommendation. Any book you like. Maybe some poetry. I am open to anything (expect maybe sci-fi.).

So, here is my TBR.

If you want to have a look at it and recommend something I have already chosen, or leave a comment with your personal advice.

PLEASE, GIVE ME RECOMMENDATIONS! I DESPERATELY NEED THEM!

The books I might read this month:

What are you going to read this month? Have you got any summer plans? I’m going to the beach for 2 weeks! I can’t wait!

p.s. I’m not sure if I like the header image or if I hate it with all my heart. Let me know. I need opinions.

My Music – June / July 2017

I’ve been really into music these past months. Spotify has been my saviour whilst my relatives talk for HOURS about shit I don’t care about.
Yes, I’m depicting the typical “teen angst” but hear me out: the same two topics over and over again. For 24 hours a day. Your ears would be bleeding too.

Anyway, I have been glued to my phone and headphones.

One of the thing I love most is reading while listening to acoustic and sad music. It just relaxes me and it helps me concentrate.

One of the songs that I have been obsessed with is “Sign of Times” by Harry Styles.
This was a shocker for me. I was never into One Direction and altought I have been unwittingly following their career (if you are on Twitter you can’t not know what’s happening in their live), I never thought I’d like the song.
But I ADORE it. It is such a GOOD SONG!!!! I love it! It’s been on repeat for the last couple of days.
I love the “wind sound” at the beginning, the ballad beat and the suffering tone of the entire tune. Basically everything I love. I am in love with it, I have been listening to it on repeat, especially when I do the dishes (since it’s the only time, aside from the shower, where I am alone. 🙂

The next artist I want to share is Tom Rosenthal. I’ve discovered him through the YouTuber Will Darbyshire and I immediately fell in love with his songs. He has been writing and composing music for some years and his latest album “FENN” is PERFECTION.

In albums, it is rare to like every tune but I LOVE every single one of the songs. They are so good. What I love about Tom is that he writes music about the silliest topics imaginable. His scruffy voice manages to hit both extremely high and low notes.

He has such a calm and deep rythm!!!! I adore him. I am in love with him, his songs and his voice.

I have heard “Liability” by Lorde for the first time on SNL and I literally fell in love with it. I love the melancholic beat and Lorde’s scratchy voice gives me the chill every single time.

I looked for the sheet music online and I started learning it. It is pretty easy and repetitive, but the melody and the chord work magnifically together.
It’s such a sad tune and I have been really into this sound!

I hope you liked this post all about music. I’ve never done anything like this, but I had so much fun figuring out the reasons why I like these songs.

Let me know what you have been listening this summer. I’d love recommendations!

Thanks for reading!

My Summer Tv Shows 2017

Every summer I go to the beach for two (or three) weeks. It is a wonderful time of peace and relax. At the same time it also crushes my soul because I am living in a tiny apartment with my mother and my aunt. And I have to contain myself and smile and nod like a good girl.
BUT, it also means no internet for 2 whole weeks. Which is hard! I have Netflix, Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah to watch!

But like I do every year, I pick some series to take with me to the beach. Last year I took “22.11.63”, “Game Of Thrones” and the pilot of “The Last Tycoon”. Uh! And “The office”. I was obsessed. I LOVE that show. ❤️

Anyway, here is what I am taking this year:

1.Jane The Virgin

I started watching it this week thanks to a friend’s recommendation and it’s great. It’s intentionally trashy and basically this is what I live for. I’m already on season 2 due to a sleepless night and I’m definitely planning on continuing.

2. Game of ThronesGame Of Thrones LOGO

Season 7 is coming out July 16th and I NEED to rewatch at least season 6. I have to get into the sorry again and what better way than rewatching the epic-ness of that magnificent season?

bloodline_tv_series_poster3. Bloodline

I’ve been wanting to watch this series since it came out but I was never in the mood. It’s not a very popular series and I have heard much about it. (I literally know nothing. 😉😉 [Hi, Jon Snow]). I just know that’s all about family drama, betrayal and secrets… so fun and summer-y! 😂

4. Parenthood

In Italy they have made a tv show based on the NBC series “Parenthood”. Although it is not the worst I have seen, I’d still like to watch the American version. And Lauren Graham is in it. And I adore her. So I have decided to take a half the first season with me.

5. House of Cards

I started watching “House of Cards” a couple of years ago and it quickly became my sunday show. I ordered pizza and I sat in front of the Tv watching a couple of episodes. Since then I became more disinterested in the show and after the first few episodes of season 4, I abandoned it. But it’s still a great show and I’d like to finish it.

6. 13 Reasons Why

I waited so long to watch this show. And not because I was excited to see it. I was waiting for the hype to die down. Knowing I love TV shows, so many people came up to me saying I HAD to watch it. And as the subborn person that I am, I refused. Just like I did with “Stranger Things”, I decided to pospone the show until people stopped talking about it. But I got into an interesting conversation about the show with a close friend of mine and I wanted to be more engaged into the conversation and therefore… I’m briging it with me to the beach. I wanted to read the book first but… sorry, no.

7. Gilmore Girls

My obsession is still not over. I haven’t talked much about it on the blog but I am still SO INTO IT. I follow so many account about the show on Instagram. I am so obsessed with the show and I feel like a nice evening with Lorelai, Rory and Luke is just the best. JESS I STILL LOVE YOU, I MISS YOU. Hi, Milo…. (insert wink)

I know I won’t be able to watch all of these things. Since I have sooooo many books to take with me. But I want choices. (insert smily face)

I hope you liked it and please let me know what shows you are planning to see this summer!

Georgia 🙂 ❤
