13 Reasons Why Season 2 Left Me Confused and Unsatisfied

Attention! The following post contains spoilers on ALL the episodes of “Thirteen Reasons Why” and sensitive topics such as sexual assault, rape and suicide. You’ve been warned!

So, three months after season 2 came out and everybody stopped talking about it, I finally decided to watch it. And it took me almost another month to write this post. It’s been hell.

Let me get something out real quick: I knew it was not going to be as good as the first one. It is a known fact that sequels are worst than its original concept, especially if you only had the first season planned.

Here is the list of all 13 reasons why “13 reasons why” left me confused and unsatisfied:

The Justin Plot hole

how did they not notice this? They thought we would not notice? Justin was Bryce’s best friend and he did not know about the clubhouse? PLEASE.

Clay

He is unbearable. I cannot stand him. He is the worst. So annoying and somehow always making the worst decision possible. He sucks and I hate him.

Bryce’s sentence

Bryce’s minimal “sentence” was disheartening. I really thought they were going to show some hope and spread a positive message that horrible crimes such as these are not to be left unpunished. They went with reality and a real depiction of what sadly happens every day.

Chloe’s betrayal of all women

Chloe’s refusal to acknowledge Bryce’s toxic behaviour made me so mad. I hoped she would be strong and speak up, instead she defended him. Her unplanned pregnancy at the end of the last episode was not particularly shocking but hopefully it will lead to an interesting storyline in season 3. That being said, she betrayed women.

I understand not speaking up, of course. Jessica didn’t want to and that’s her choice and it has to be respected. But defending him? NAH.

Hannah’s truths

Hannah recorded the tapes but she didn’t tell the whole truth. She left out her sort of friendship with Bryce, her romance with Zach and more. Why would she do that?

You record cassettes so that the people who pushed you to commit suicide realise what they did and yet, you don’t put everything in them? Was it because the writers needed more material for season 2?

I did not understand that decision.

Hannah’s faults

What really bothered my about this season, is that they blamed Hannah for killing herself. Clay shouts it at her (or rather his own hallucination of her) a one point and I was so pissed off by that.

Clay’s reaction is understandable: he is quite self-centred and he also does not comprehend her decision of taking her own life.

The whole season sees Hannah’s suicide as something she did to other people in her life instead of what it actually was. A girl who was so broken and couldn’t bear to spend any more time on Earth. She didn’t do it to other people, she did it to herself. She killed herself.

THE Bathroom Scene

It was so raw. It was almost as painful as Hannah’s rape scene in the 1st season. It made me sick to my stomach. They wanted to go for the “shock effect” and they did it. It was unbearable to watch.

I know there was a lot of controversy around this particular scene and I perfectly understand why. It was so violent and just thinking about it, makes me shiver.

Jessica & Justin

What. The. Fuck.

I appreciated a lot Justin’s storyline. it was a story of redemption and of forgiveness.

But there is a difference between forgiving someone for not having prevented your rape from happening and kissing him in the locker room. That really bothered me. I just want Jessica to be happy and deal with what was done to her in the most healthy way possible.

Hannah As A Ghost

Why did they do this? Why? It was terrible. I hated it. She died. Stop bringing her back. and what is worse, they brought her back as a figment of Clay’s imagination.

No.

Where are the adults?

I mean! There is almost no honest dialogue between the parents and the kids.

This is the reason the show should be targeted to parents instead of teenagers: by seeing the show they might get a better understanding of what goes on in the life of their children.

Parents could be scared into installing a line of dialogue with their kids.

“Please dream your dreams”

This was the worst line I’ve ever heard on a TV show. It screams sloppy and cheesy writing and I hate it.

Not even Kate Walsh could save this monstrosity.

Guns

How can people of all ages get their hands of so many guns? America, you have a problem. Can’t you freaking see it?!

Guns should not circulate this freely!!! #GunControlNow

Clay

Yes, Clay again. My hatred for him has to be mentioned twice in this list. He is the worst. I’ve never hated a protagonist as much as I’ve despised him.

Here are my 13 reasons why I thought the show was problematic.

Did you watch it? What did you think about Bryce’s sentence? And about Justin’s road to redemption? Please tell me you hate Clay as much as I do.

Riverdale Season 2 – Review

ATTENTION! THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR ALL SEASONS OF THE CW’S “RIVERDALE”.

So…. I’ve watched season 2. A month ago. I devoured the show. I couldn’t stop watching. I was obsessed. I still am. But writing this review took me a long time.

First of all, some self-promo: I also talked about my first impression of it and my thoughts on Season 1. Feel free to check them out!

Now let’s get into the bad good stuff:

Suffice to say that season two is very very very very very different from season one. And to be fair I ‘ve enjoyed that one so much more than this one. The plot was so much better! I liked that they tried to find who “The Black Hood” was, but it wasn’t as satisfying as discovering who murdered Jason.

And I wasn’t, I still not am, a fan of the serpents. I don’t get it! What’s the point of them? They are a gang that comes from south side of the city of Riverdale… But what is their purpose? Why are they here? Why did Jughead join them even though he said he wouldn’t?

Skeet Ulrich, Mädchen Amick, Cole Sprouse, and Lili Reinhart in Riverdale (2016)

ep 01: of course Jughead has got a fucking motorcycle!!! THIS IS HILARIOUS! The perfect image of the bad boy! I cannot stop laughing.

– The image of Archie sitting at the bottom of the stairs with a baseball bat to “protect” his father was the top for me. It made no sense! The guy has a gun! There is a famous line in the italian movie “A Fistful of Dollars” that says: “Quando un uomo con la pistola incontra un uomo col fucile, quello con la pistola è un uomo morto” which roughly translated into: “When a man with a gun meets a man with a rifle, the one with the gun is a dead man.”

Exchange gun with baseball bat and rifle with gun and BOOM! Perfect metaphor.

EP 3: Archie and his shirtless guys in red masks trying to threaten “The Black Hood” via YouTube was the worst scene I’ve seen in a long time. It was so bad. Like, so bad. Terrible. But… I STARTED LAUGHING LIKE THERE WAS NO TOMORROW. IT WAS HILARIOUS.

EP 04: Why are guns so easily bought in America!? Where is the Federal background check?! #GunControlNow

EP 13: I knew from the moment the guy said: “I’m an FBI Agent” that he was a fake. At one point he was actually dressed like the perfect mobster stereotype. IT WAS SO RIDICULOUS! It was so obvious that he wasn’t a real agent, you jagweed!!!

John Behlmann in Riverdale (2016)

EP 15: DADDY BLOSSOM IS BACK!!!! Or no wait, it’s his twin brother!!! I love this show!

– The Cabin episode was weird as hell. Jughead kissing Veronica and both couples heard the other one having sex (this was super disturbing).

– I’ll say this once: the Chic debacle was terrible. I hated it. The actor, Hart Denton, was super creepy and I loved that. But it was obvious he wasn’t actually Alice Cooper’s son! Speaking of, Mädchen Amick‘s performance when crying for her dead child to Betty and FP moved me. It was the best acting I have seen on the show so far. She was great.

– Is this Pretty Little Liars all over again? Somehow everybody accepts that children solve crimes. Ok, not children. Teenagers. There is not a lot of difference. How come the adults rely on the kids to find murderers?

– Uhhh! The whole mobster thing!!! They are mafiosi so, obviously, there is the mandolino and stereotypical attire. It kind of pissed me off but at the same time… alright. The show is a huge stereotype of everything so I don’t really care.

– And can we talk about Polly for a moment? She has joined a cult, her children have the weirdest names ever and she seems completely brainwashed.

– AND NOW THE TRASHIEST PART EVER: The Musical Episode!!!!! It was sooooooooooo bad. And they can’t even lip-sync right!!! Come on! It’s the one thing you have to do in musical episodes! The music on the show is garbage. Total garbage and I have proudly skipped every single song sang on both season 1 and 2, thank you very much.

– HIRAM LODGE IS TAKING HIS REVENGE! Bye Archie! See you in jail, girl!

This is so bad. In Jane The Virgin they have twin brothers as well, and twists like these but they do it on purpose! Because it’s a telenovela! And the stories are amazing, the writing is so good! But it is aware of it! And that’s the fun of it. It’s not serious!

But on here, it is! They do it intentionally! Good writing in TV is so difficult to find. I have literally thousand questions about the actions of some characters and the personalities they were given. There are a lot of issues for me.

And I have two posts lined up regarding them. But it is going to take some time to gather my thoughts and put them into writing.

Are you up to date with Riverdale? What do you think its trashiest moment was? Do you have any thoughts on this second season?

I’d love to know them!

UnREAL – s04 ep 01 – “All In” – Season Premiere Review

Attention! This post contains spoilers for the first episode of season 4 of Unreal and all the other seasons!

I’M SO EXCITED!!!!

I thought I was gonna have to wait a year for the next season and instead… HULU surprised us! 3 months after the season 3 Finale… here we are! With all 8 episodes being released!

(Dear Hulu, I have almost forgiven you for passing on picking up Brooklyn99 when it was briefly cancelled. This was definitely a step forward to rekindle our basically non-existent relationship.)

I saw the trailer and it looked super cool! Lots of drama, scandals, pretty hair and makeup and manipulative bitches! YEAH!!!

Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer in UnREAL (2015)

That being said… I started off extremely doubtful: what is happening to Rachel?! What is all of this misogyny and sexism?!

Last year they tried to be as feminists as possible for a reality tv show about finding love, and now what is all of this?! Has Rachel gone insane?

Even Quinn is uncomfortable by her actions! Well, partially.

This season is a lot more “Bachelor in Paradise” rather than “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette“. Rachel has created incredibly sexist games, like guys rating the women’s appearance and if they don’t like it, they throw them into a stupid pond underneath the bridge.

What the actual fuck?!?

Also, it’s not Venmo. It’s the CashApp. I can hear Lovett or Leave It’s Jon Lovett’s voice shouting: We’re not using the other apps anymore.

Going back to Quinn for a moment: she has a necklace that says “Love”. WHAT?!

And Jay is still doing cocaine! Thanks Alexi!

“Are you that desperate not to be alone that you would marry some contestant from a dumbass reality show you’ve known for eight weeks?

You’re living in a fantasy world where everyone is perfect, therefore fake.”

THIS SUMS UP THE ENTIRE BACHELOR / BACHELORETTE / BACHELOR IN PARADISE FRANCHISE!!!

On top of that, Rachel is basically using the show as an excuse to sleep with all these guys and then get her own happy ending. (Hence the makeup and perfectly styled blonde hair).

AND QUINN IS PREGNANT!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!

The following are just a couple of the questions that went through my mind while watching this train wreck.

  • Is Rachel serious?
  • Is Quinn going to keep the baby?
  • What is the deal with Jay and Alexi?
  • Why are they making such an immoral and terrible show?
  • What is the bigger picture?
  • Why would Rachel allow Roger the rapist on the show? Is she going to convict him on national TV?
  • Is Jeremy going to show up?
  • Is it weird that I hope the blonde dickhead suitor from Season 1 comes back?
  • What is the deal with the new provider? The one with the Italian surname. Tommy. He can’t be worse than last season’s creepy therapist!

SO. MANY. QUESTIONS!

I’m starting ep 2 NOW.

See you at the end of the season. Bye.

Talk to me about the show by leaving a comment down below, tweet at me or send me an email!

12 Monkeys Season 4 Review (Series Finale)

The show is over!!!!

I’m so sad!!!

Risultati immagini per 12 monkeys season 4 posterI can’t say I’m a sci-fi / fantasy enthusiast, but I have been watching this show almost since the beginning and it has now come to an end!

I have to say: I liked it so much better than season 3. I didn’t really like that one. The whole Ethan thing brought me back to the nightmare that was Doctor Who’s River Song entire storyline.

No, no, no and no. Why do show keep doing that? It’s stupid and I hate it.

That being said, season 4 was great! Lots of time travel, lots of time periods and on top of that, lots of secrets.

The 11 episodes came out in just four weeks. Kudos to SYFY for doing this! They didn’t drag it on and on for 11 weeks but at the same time, they didn’t release it all at once, Netflix style. It gave the audience the time to digest what happened and get us excited for the episodes to come.

I can’t get into too much detail because my posts are always too long. I tend to ramble when talking about TV. So, I’ll make a bullet point list:

  • I love that now the enemy is Olivia! A better witness than Ethan! (Sorry Ethan but no.)

Alisen Down in 12 Monkeys (2015)

  • Deacon. Poor Deacon. He sacrificed himself for the mission Cassie! What a great character. Todd Stashwick’s performance was spectacular!
  • Deacon and Jennifer’s friendship is adorable. I love them.
  • Jennifer’s hallucinations and fantasies are 12 Monkeys’ best parts. NO DOUBT.
  • I loved Katarina’s back story
  • Conleth Hill made an appearance! VARYS, Y’ALL!!!
  • One more thing about Deacon… He is 12 Monkeys’ Nicholas Brody! You never know on which side he is on! But at least Deacon always comes back to the right one!
  • Cassie’s struggle to keep Cole alive in episode 5! That was super intense! Loved it!

Todd Stashwick in 12 Monkeys (2015)

  • And the trip to Nazi Germany was terrifying. Now showing Hitler’s face somehow gave it so much authenticity!
  • I could have done without the whole “bell” and “artifact” thingy. It was a bit boring and stupid because it didn’t lead to anything.
  • Hannah was Cole’s mom?!? WHAAAAAAAT!?!
  • Therefore, Katarina was Cole’s grandmother!?!? HILARIOUS!
  • It was a great twist because I thought that the witness’ daughter was Cole’s mother. Not Hannah!
  • And the finale. Well, that was a great hour and a half of TV: old characters coming back (some from the dead), fights, a race against time to save the world. Loved it. The goodbyes were soooooo sad!!! But I was entertained from beginning to end.
  • Katarina deleted all the Coles aside from the last version of him and saved him! Thank you, weird futuristic science!

A few words about the ending:

I love that it had a happy ending, that Cole is alive and reunited with Cassie. Jennifer invented the unicorn (which was the best thing ever), Katarina had a wonderful life with her husband and daughter, in the future Old-Jennifer and Deacon are friends and he has a bar. All of this was lovely.

But what I loved most was the promise of “not forever”. Cassie was tempted to let the witness tear up time so she and Cole could live forever and together. But that’s bullshit. The promise of forever is bullshit and I am ecstatic they made this point.

Cole said, and I quote:

“You and me. We can go and we can hide in that house forever. We can raise a son who never dies. We can have it all. Until it means nothing because it never ends. We’ll be together forever until we can’t even remember what it feels like to find each other again after an hour, a minute, a second apart. I’ll go with you, Cassie. We can have forever. Or we can have now. With an ending. And that makes it real. Please, give us an ending.”

And I thought it was beautiful! That “forever” promise means nothing! And it’s not something that revolutionary but it’s the first time I’ve heard a TV show (or a book for that matter) say it out loud!

Even the last words of the show,

“Where are you right now? Somewhere save? Warm? Next to someone you love? Some day, all that will be gone. Time passes how it’s meant to. All that matters is now. Happily ever now.”

Love love love love..

I am the last person to enjoy sci-fi or fantasy tv show, but I’m super glad I found this one. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it. It’s gory, idiotic, funny, it has great characters and weird storylines that make to sense half the time. Oh, and time travel.

So… this is the end.

Goodbye, 12 Monkeys. I’ll miss you.
