Pretty Little Liars – Season 7 Episode 13 – “Hold Your Piece” – REVIEW

ATTENTION! This review contains some strong language and (obviously) spoilers from the latest Pretty Little Liars episode. You have been warned!

[Present Me Writing:] I have posted the review for ep 12 a couple of minutes ago and as I was about to pick up my Uni book I decided to edit this review and post it. Otherwise in 2018 it will still be in the drafts secton. So…. Here is what I wrote a couple of weeks ago! Sorry again for the delay! I will explain in a future entry! Enjoy!

I’m back with episode 13! This one was a goody… I yelled at the TV more than once. I predicted almost everything that happened. I love this show so much!

The episode begins with the cell phone from A.D.’s board game waking up Spencer because it’s crying. Yes, the phone is crying like a baby.

Then the authors of the show tried to make us care about Toby’s fiancée. Don’t worry: nobody does.
The fiancée (whose name I don’t really remember but I think it’s Yvonne) still has a perfect manicure after a car crash. PERFECT, I tell ya. This drives me crazy every single fucking time. Oh, and she’s awake from the coma. Still: who cares!!!

2017-05-24.png

There’s also this think that bothers me: Spencer and the cop’s non-existent sexual tension is literally non-existent. NOTHING. WHY? Authors? WHY?

But my favourite part of the episode was the Hannah Doll. HILARIOUS! Hats off to the genius who thought about this insane thing. It’s so bad it’s amazing.

2017-05-10 (4).png

Caleb and Hannah are so smart that they bring it into the house?! 😂  COME ON!!! And the line: “Please see the appendix”: WHAT OTHER APPENDIX DID YOU THINK WE WERE TALKING ABOUT?! Hannah looked in the appendixes of the books she owned. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!! I guess it as soon as the doll said it!!! It’s fucking obvious!

And then the cop shows up again! JUST GO AWAY. That policeman (don’t remember his name ’cause I hate him) with the ping pong table. Really really boring!!!!!!!!!! I don’t care about his sad childhood!!!!!!!

2017-05-10 (2).png

[This is another fucking filler episode and I’m bored!]  Inner thoughts came through. I’m sorry. I was soooo bored.

Apparently, Toby’s fiancée wasn’t apparently his fiancée yet… Since he asked her to get married in this episode… I’m confused. Mostly because I’ve skipped the parts where they were involved. *wink wink*

Aria and Emily following the girl that looks like Jenna (SIDNEY! HER NAME IS SIDNEY!) is useless. (probably the most used adjective in these two episodes…)

But then Hannah cuts open the doll only to find a kimono that she has to wear to a meeting with Japanese investors. A.D. is pulling the racism card… I kind of feel bad for Hannah… 2017-05-10 (6).png

Then after some threats and other shit, there is a VERY awkward moment between Spencer and Caleb. Remember, they “dated” for a while. EW. Why they paired them together, I really don’t understand. Another favourite part was Caleb when got sprayed by the board game! WHY? JUST… WHY?

In the middle of nowhere, there is choir singing. What’s with the church music?! But of course, it’s for the happy nuptials! Toby actually got married to Yvonne!!!!

And I was so naive… I asked myself: “what if she dies?” followed a second later by: “she is soooooo going to die”. AND YES!!!  I predicted it!! She is dead!! I don’t mean to sound so happy, but it’s a character on a TV show, I hate her and… I KNEW IT! I WIN!

but after this joyous moment, I came to a realization and I askled myself: Is anyone else wondering where the fuck Ezra is?
Was the actor busy? Did they really think that this whole Nicole thing was plausible?!
Then Nicole is hiding in Ezra’s apartment?! WTF. WHY? WHY?

Before writing this, I thought this episode was me

2017-05-24 (1).png

Before writing this, I thought this episode was meaningless, but now I already have three favourite scenes. And the third one is the last one: the policed gets a severed finger in the mail… I LOVED THIS. LOVED LOVED LOVED. It was the most cliché thing ever and of course, they had to include it. AMAZING.

I hope the reviews aren’t too long for you. I have to comment on everything and this show is so ridiculous sometimes. I hadn’t read this review for some time and seeing it now made me realize about something I need to work on so I can get better… But you don’t really care about this. I’m just ranting. I’ll stop.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that I didn’t bore you to death. Let me know your thoughts on the episode. I write these posts so I can vent about stuff and I’d really love to engage in a conversation.

LOVE,

Georgia

Pretty Little Liars – Season 7 Episode 12 – “These Boots Are Made For Stalking”

ATTENTION! This review contains some strong language and (obviously) spoilers from the latest Pretty Little Liars episode. You have been warned!

So…. I’ve been terribly busy (Uni, my driver’s license and tutoring… I’m so sleep deprived) and reviewing an episode takes time. I’m sorry for the delay!

NOTHING HAPPENED IN THIS EPISODE. NOTHING.

What are the producers thinking? There are only a handful of episodes left and they are dragging this shit for miles!!!

it’s been a lot of weeks since episode 12, so I’ve had to skip through it AGAIN and it was painful. Let’s break it down (almost) character per character:

SPENCER:

Spencer existential crisis only remotely interesting thing that has happened here. I’m sorry about her screwed-up family and this situation is ridiculous, but at least there were some real emotions involved. Her stubbornness in finding her birth mother is totally legitimate.

2017-05-10.png

BTW to be perfectly candid, dear Spencer… DITCH THE COP! Such a useless and boring character! What is his purpose in life?!

One of the lines that made me laugh the most was Spencer saying: “Lock her up” to the cop guy because she wanted to get rid of Jenna Marshall. I kid you not, the first thing that came to my mind was when Donald Trump said it referring to Hillary Clinton. I pictured Spencer with a blond wig, power-red tie and fake tan yelling in front of a crowd of racists.

EMILY / ALLISON / PAIGE

The mini-Alison student called Addison. To quote Alanis Morrissette: “Isn’t it ironic??!” COME ON! IT IS RIDICULOUS!! SO BORING…

And of course, she works with Jenna Fucking Marshall. And she impossibly appears everywhere? Does she teleport to places? How the fuck does she do that?!!?

HANNAH

And what about Hannah’s dress? It’s ugly. Like, really ugly. The white version not so much but the other is definitely not my taste.

2017-05-10 (1).png

By the way, Caleb comes back and he delivers the fakest dramatic lines of the episode. Something along the lines of “Jenna, go the fuck away. I’m the smart tech guy and I’m threatening you.” Caleb, please… Get a better hair style and better facial hair. Also, go play with your hacking devices thing-ys and stop making empty threats. Thank you!

And Mona making the “Mona Lisa having a perm” joke was just…. No.

ARIA

Where the fuck is Ezra? No seriously. Where is he? Why isn’t he here? Why did they resuscitate Nicole? It is just one more useless thing they decided to add into the show. Just to fill in the 42 minutes. Ew.

2017-05-10 (3).png

And who the hell is this cook guy? He has been back for two episodes and I have seriously never seen him before. And it is so fucking obvious that he is into her. He is asking Aria if Ezra is the only person who said “I love you” to her… Mind your business, man!

I sympathize with Aria, she is struggling with her relationship with Ezra and frankly, he is being a dick…

I was kind of disappointed with the episode. Boring. Meaningless. Useless. Meh.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed it! I might sound over-critical, but I love it!!! Like every single episode of PLL.

Love,

Georgia 🙂

Pretty Little Liars – Spring Premiere 2017 – Season 7 episode 11 – “Playtime” Review

ATTENTION! This review contains some strong language and (obviously) spoilers from the latest Pretty Little Liars episode. You have been warned!

I have reviewed a couple of episodes (ep 8, ep 9 and ep 10) of the latest season of Pretty Little Liars and I had so much fun. This show unloads so much stuff on one single episode. It’s unbelievable.

Pretty Little Liars

I have been waiting for a long time for the show to come back and finally, I can get back into the trash. If you’ve read my other posts, you know that I heavily trash the show, even though I adore it. It’s so teen-angst. To get back into the show and to refresh my memory, I re-watched some of the old episodes, just to remind myself of all the nonsense that happened.

And it’s been great. To quickly recap: Noel Kahn was working with A.D, he is psychotic and got beheaded by an ax (which was stuck on the floor), Jenna pointed a gun at the girls and started shooting around. (Need I remind you that she is blind?), someone shot Spencer but as Jenna was about to pull the trigger on Spencer, Mary Drake knocked her over and while someone dragged away an unconscious Jenna, Mary revealed that SHE was Spencer’s mother. And happy with all this tragedy, the creators decided that Toby and his fianceé (whose name eludes me) had to get into a really bad car crash.

AND, in the last few seconds, it is revealed that Jenna didn’t know A.D. and wasn’t working for them. But now she is trapped (presumably) in a van with him/her.

And bear in mind that this happened in the last 10 minutes. SO MUCH INFORMATION TO GO THROUGH!

But it’s been almost a year since this episode…. Let’s not waste more time and let’s dive into it. The following things that you will read were written while watching the episode, so it’s my genuine reaction to all the SHIT that happened.

Right in the first two minutes the amount of information is ridiculous. Yvonne (that’s the name of Toby’s fiancée!!!) is in a medically induced coma, the liars find out about Toby and said something about Mary Drake. What I don’t know. It was so fast!

Also, Ezra comes back! In the last episode, his previous girlfriend and girl he wrote his book about, came back to life. Yes. THAT HAPPENED.

Hannah pinching Caleb to “check that he is real.”  *eye roll* COME ON. The entire conversation was a cheesy sentence after another. I wanted to puke.

Can we just talk for a minute about the fact that Alison is a teacher now? It’s absurd.

PRESENT TIME!

Hannah:“Did you talk about the wedding?”

Aria: “No, we didn’t.”

IT WAS THE ONLY THING YOU HAD TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT!!!!

This whole Spencer/Cop thing is just stupid. Why is he even here? What is his point?!? So annoying.

And as you can see on the right…. Who the fuck is this guy? Holden? Where are you coming from? What’s the point of you? Meaningless people seem to be the theme of this entire episode.

It seems that for once, Veronica told Spencer the truth! Mr. Hastings had another illegitimate child! This time with Mary. But he thought she was Jessica? And Mary was in the asylum so Veronica took the baby in and adopted her as her daughter. I feel so bad for Spencer. It was completely absurd, but I really felt sorry for her.

So after her meltdown and her mother’s confession, she decided to play A.D.’s game and went to see Toby. And had an emotional heart to heart. Blah blah blah.

Then some shit with Mona and Hannah and a Senator’s daughter.  *eye roll*

Sometimes these subplots are so boring and at the same time better than any shit the show can make up. Just like this tension between Emily, Paige and Alison. I don’t really care. And it’s getting pathetic.

Anyway, as Hannah prepares to stab the game A.D. sent them, a video appears on the screen. It’s them, digging up Alison’s husband.

And as the final scene, we see Jenna asking questions to someone off camera. Obviously A.D. She says “End Game” and…. that’s the episode.

Frankly, I expected more. I was all in for a ridiculous episode like the summer finale but this one wasn’t as much fun. I liked it, don’t get me wrong. It was cheesy, stupid, ridiculous, annoying (like Ezra and fucking Nicole… COME ON!) and magnificent.

I’ll definitely try to review episode after episode until the very end, but I’m starting to live again and I’m getting slightly better and I don’t know how much time I’ll actually have 😦

Let me know if you liked the episode and your thoughts on it. I’d love to discuss it with you! BYE!

2016 In TV Shows

I told myself I wasn’t going to do this, but I’ve been working all week, I spent more than 72 hours non-stop with my family and relatives and I need to talk about my love for television and not a bunch of lies about my university career.

So many horrible things have happened in 2016, but for television this has been one of the best years EVER. At least for me. So, this is my 2016 narrated through my favourite TV shows. (there are more, obviously. But there are the new ones or those that made an impression).

JANUARY

This was a busy months for me: I did 4 exams at Uni and my shows came back from the holiday hiatus.

And what better way to start the year with a special episode (obviously set in the victoria age. Mark Gatiss is obsessed) of Sherlock called “The Abominable bride”.

After a devastating winter finale, “Suits” came back on January and it was incredible. The tension, the drama, the unknown… I’ve been a Suits fan since season 2 or 3 (aka when I discovered it existed) and I still can’t wait for it to come back after the break. Season 5 was unforgettable. Probably the best one.

But then my friend got me into “Black Mirror” and so I watched the fist few episode… which traumatized me. Obviously I needed a pick-me-up and although the title and the trailer seemed utterly stupid, watching Mozart in the Jungle was a great decision.

FEBRUARYLast Week Tonight with John Oliver

Lots more shows came back from hiatus, but they were suddenly cast aside: I had just discovered my GOD of satiric comedy (and let’s say it: journalism): JOHN OLIVER. I absolutely adore him and his show “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver”. I have watched some of his pieces so many times that I’m almost ashamed. (Can’t wait for him to come back on February 12th 2017!!!!)

MARCH

Another dull month (wait until April ’cause then you’ll think I’m crazy)…  The 4th season “House of Cards” was released on Netflix (still have to finish it, BTW) and my favourite italian TV show came back for 3 episodes! Based on the books by Andrea Camilleri, “Il commissario Montalbano” is about a police inspector in Sicily who tries to solve particularly difficult cases and he is often faced with the mafia. Absolutely stunning!

APRIL

Things here went downhill… I wasn’t mentally well… I hit a rough patch and I felt really really down. So of course I buried myself in tv shows.

My beloved “Game of Thronescame back for season 6 (the best one, in my opinion), HBO’s “Silicon Valley” premiered its 3rd season (LOVED IT).

I started 2 new series: “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “12 Monkeys”. Despite its good reviews, I didn’t really get into Kimmy Schmidt, but for the first time I enjoyed watching a supernatural/sci-fi show that wasn’t Doctor Who. I really enjoyed “12 Monkeys” and I’m definitely going to keep watching season 3 (rumour has it, it will air in June 2017).

April was also a months of old TV shows: I started watching “Will and Grace”. And I really really liked it! It was so innovative for its time, funny and totally weird.

The only downside of April: Limitless. The CBS show was cancelled. The show was kind of a sequel to Bradley Cooper’s movie, but the amazing thing was: there was actually Bradley Cooper in it! Looking absolutely stunning! It was the weirdest TV I had seen in a long time and I didn’t immediately get why it was great. Anyway, it got unfairly cancelled, so…

MAY

May was probably one of the worst ( 😉 ) months of the year. I had a terrible breakdown, I felt like shit for days and going out of the house had the same effect of someone stabbing me in the back.

BUT I discovered a new show. You’re the worst“. And to this moment I still can’t believe how much it helped me.

Every time I was feeling depressed, I would watch season 2, get into Gretchen’s shoes and allow myself to feel nothing. When I saw the character being in the same situation that I was (although she was a lot worse than me) made me feel less alone, it made me feel like it was okay for me to be like that. Definitely one of the most honest and real portrayal of a mental illness on TV.

JUNE

June means “holiday at the beach with other 6 people of my family” so I definitely packed my computer with TV shows.

Starting at home with “Unreal”, a show about the behind-the-scenes of a reality like “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette”. I though it was one of the most amazing thing ever. And I still do. I hate reality shows, but this behind-the-scenes look is fantastic. Don’t know why, but I loved it. It’s so clever. (Since as I’m writing this, it’s January 3rd, I’m so going to watch the new season of the Bachelor this year!)

I downloaded the 3rd season of “The Night Shift” just for the LOLs but I actually enjoyed it. It talked about police brutality, racism, discrimination, the war in Syria… Really politically and socially relevant. Didn’t think I would, but I enjoyed it. Definitely tuning it for season 4.

I don’t usually watch BBC Dramas, but “Doctor Foster” was definitely a must. I adore Suranne Jones! She played David Tennant’s love interest in “Single Father” in 2010 and I really really like her! She is a great actress! And in this 5-episode-series, she didn’t let me down! The story, though… ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Loved it. I also watched BBC’s “Thirteen”. It wasn’t as good as “Doctor Foster” but I recommend it! Very dark and obscure.

I got really really into “The Office” (the US version). I didn’t think I would, given the weaker episodes in season 1, but as soon as I got to season 2… WOW. I LOVED IT. I fell in love with John Krasinski and I truly understood Steve Carell’s brilliance. What a show!

If this list wasn’t enough, I started watching for the 5th time “Breaking Bad” and had a look at two pilots: “The Last Tycoon” (Amazon) and “Bloodline” (Netflix).

Thank God Amazon picked up”The Last Tycoon” for a full series because if not, I would have been really really pissed off. (And no more Matt Bomer in the 30s would have been a crime against ME).

JULY

After everything that happened in June, I took a step back. The brilliant “Mr Robot” premiered its second season (that I finished watching last week and it’s mind-blowing) and saw the first couple of episodes and I chose to watch the comedy “Parks and Recreation” (mainly because I was missing “The Office” and “Parks and Rec” has the same producer and some of the same writers).

AUGUST

Despite studying for my German exam, I got started watching almost all new series.

The only exception “Pretty Little Liars”, my guilty pleasure, that ended its 6th season. (season 7 premieres in April 2017, ICYMI.)

If you go back here on my blog, you can see my detailed reviews and opinions on these following shows: I started watching “Stranger Things” because everyone was obsessed… Meh.

For the first year I watched and really REALLY got into “The Great British Bake Off”… Obviously I started watching it and then it got cancelled and moved to channel 4, but never mind that.

Then there was ITV’s “Victoria”… Utterly enjoyed it. Jenna Coleman did a wonderful performance.

After in the middle of all of this: FOX’s “Brooklyn Nine Nine”.

SEPTEMBER

TV show wise, probably the best months along with May.

Waiting for my regular shows (Modern Family, New Girl, Grey’s Anatomy…) to come back I found two other series, and one of them changed me. I am obviously talking about “This is us”. And FX’s “Better Things”.

I reviewed This Is Us here on my blog, but I feel like I can’t make it justice. I think the only way is for you, yes you who is reading this now, to go watch it. It will tear you apart. I didn’t even know I was capable of feeling some of the emotions that the show evoked. A MUST of 2016.

OCTOBER

friends

Shittiest months of the year. Got obsessed with “Friends”. Don’t have a single regret.

NOVEMBER

The day I had been waiting for more that a year finally arrived and on November 4th I was finally able to watch “The Crown”. AND WHAT A MASTERPIECE. Matt Smith is brilliant in it! I had missed him so much!

But in late November I discovered the show that destroyed me almost (but not really) as much as “This is us”: Gilmore Girls.

After the mind-blowing discovery that Jack from “This is Us” was Jess from “Gilmore Girls” (and it took me a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time to figure that out), I was hooked. Still am actually.

DECEMBER

Finally! The last months! This has been a never-ending post!

I got into two new Tv shows! “Westworld” and I managed to watch the first two episodes of “The Affair” even though it came out in November. (I’m still stuck on episode two, BTW).

A memorable thing that happened in December was the last three episodes of “This Is Us” that I hadn’t seen as they came out, ’cause frankly… I was not emotionally ready for them. I kid you not, I cried for three hours straight. NEVER in my life, I had ever cried this much. It was one of the most liberating feelings in the world. I hate it and loved it at the same time.

This year was bad: from terrorist attacks, to shootings, to celebrity’s deaths (George Micheal I’ll miss you) , to arrogant narcissistic bigot orange racists being elected as President of the United States Of America.

Television wise, this has been a great year. Full of amazing shows, talented NEW and diverse actors and fantastic writers.

I probably forgot a lot of series I glanced at in this past year, but apparently they weren’t worth remembering!

I hope you had a fantastic year and I wish all of you an even better one! Happy 2017!

Georgia   🙂 ❤

P.S. Definitely not going to write this in one sitting next time! Creating the “2017 in Tv shows” post right now!
