Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series

2018-09-03 (3).png

Of course. Like I can decide a possible winner. Sure.

I’m not a huge fan of Millie Bobby Brown and even though Lena Headey was brilliant as usual, there are performances that impacted me more.

Ann Dowd was spectacular as always and Alexis Bledel made me feel so many emotions. This role was made for her and she gave it 110%.

I’m undecided between Yvonne Strahovski and Vanessa Kirby, but even though I am a little bit in love with Vanessa and Princess Margaret, I think the Emmy should go to Yvonne.

She was mesmerizing.

2017 Winner: Ann Down as Aunt Lydia, “The Handmaid’s Tale”

My Winner: Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy, “The Handmaid’s Tale”

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series

2018-09-03 (5).png

Another tough category. Wow.

I love the Game Of Thrones guys. I do. I have a crush on Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Mandy Patinkin is a treasure and I love him and David Harbour was unbelievable amazing as Jim Hopper.

I can’t decide between Matt Smith and Joseph Fiennes. I really want Matt to win. I think he deserves it so much but the other nominees are so amazing as well.

Out of loyalty I’m gonna go with Matt.

2017 Winner: John Lithgow as Winston Churchill, “The Crown”

My Winner: Matt Smith as Prince Philip, “The Crown”

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series

I’m not familiar with Tatiana Maslany and Keri Russell’s performances, to be fair.

Also, Sandra Oh is the first Asian-American woman to be nominated for an Emmy as Lead Actress. And she deserves it so much. Her performance in Killing Eve was perfect.

Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II was as brilliant as always and Elizabeth Moss literally tore my heart out of my chest. I can describe her performance as heartbreaking. She broke my heart.

I can’t really talk much about Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores because I was so concentrated on understanding the plot and I lost track of everything else.

2017 Winner: Elisabeth Moss as June / Offred, “The Handmaid’s Tale”

My Winner: I’m picking two winners because this is my blog so my rules: Elisabeth Moss as June / Offred, “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri, “Killing Eve”.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series

So….. I was not that impressed by this category. For some reason, I thought this category would not include these people.

I don’t really know Jason Bateman and Matthew Rhys but I like all the other performances.

I can’t really decide. As I said before, I did not understand a single thing that happened on Westworld so, to sum up my choice is between Milo and Sterling.

I can’t choose. I don’t really have an opinion here. (surprise surprise. As you can see, I am very opinionated. And not just about TV).

2017 Winner: Sterling K Brown as Randall Pearson, “This is Us”

My Winner: Sterling K Brown or Jeffrey Wright (Sorry Milo).

Outstanding Drama Series

Well, well, well… The BIG category.

If I follow my instincts, my gut says “The Handmaid’s Tale”. Season 2 was heartbreaking and so intense.

But what about “The Crown”? And “Stranger Things 2”? That was so good! And so much better than season 1! Like, so much better. Even I watched it twice!

In these posts, I’m coming off as a non-Game of Thrones-fan. And I like the show… I’m jut so tired of it and there were some things I was no on board with. I’m tired of it. Thank God the next one is the last season.

This is Us broke my heart in a million pieces and it’s an amazing depiction of family life and deep issues every one of us faces in their lives.

Westworld is like… so well written, so well-directed and so well acted, but I don’t know what it is about and what it all means. It makes no sense.

I’m sure “The Americans” is amazing but I stopped at season 2. It was not for me.

Concluding, I don’t know. They are all Emmy worthy shows. I think I might be disappointed only if Westworld wins. Because I am so annoyed with it. Like, so annoyed.

2017 Winner: The Handmaid’s Tale

My Winner: every one but Westworld.

Things We Should Leave in 2017

I know. The first month of 2018 is gone and nobody wants to go back to the past.

But I’ve just seen these two videos by Connor Franta and Arden Rose and I thought: “I love complaining so this is the perfect blog post for me!”

So here I am! A month late with lots of ranting to do!

Let me start off with the obvious:

The Current US President

Even if he is one of the worst people on Earth, these past two years have been hilarious. People say you should not find all of this funny because this administration is endangering millions and millions of people. And it’s true. I 100% agree. But I can’t help be incredibly entertained by it. Whenever there is news about Russia, collusion and general weird shit that happened, I need to know about it. And not just the general idea. I need to be aware of every single detail.

It’s awful, I know, but if it weren’t reality, it would have been the best tv show ever created.

Too Much Makeup

And here I’m not talking about using makeup to make yourself look similar to a celebrity for Halloween. Those are amazing and the people who do them are unbelievable talented.

I’m talking about excessive contouring, highlighting, long-ass eyelashes that you can see they’re fake for a mile distance and sadly, even more stuff!

I am so tired of looking through YouTube and seeing these people completely altering their appearance and then looking into the camera with a sultry look.

Stop. Please.

sultry looks bring me to my next point:

over sexualization of women and young girls.

Why do women are always expected to be sexy? Why are people are over sexualizing teenagers? (Yes, I’m talking about the Stranger Things cast members. They are children. Stop.)

It’s fucking disgusting.

Talking about something disgusting… sexual predators.

Reading and listening to the stories these women have had to go through made me sick to my stomach. I couldn’t even read the entire articles.

I was so amazed and inspired by all the amazing women who came forward and stood up for themselves. It took and unbelievable amount of courage and I applaud them and stand with them.

Tabù Topics

Let’s be more upfront and voice our issues and our problems. Like menstruation. 49% of the world population is female and we still can’t talk freely about our periods?

And what about our sexuality? In my small and close-minded town, talking about sexuality and the different life styles makes people uncomfortable. Why should it?

You’re straight? Good for you!

You’re gay? Great!

You’re trying to figure it out? You go girl, and explore!

Why is it so hard to understand?!

Most Online Influencers

I admit it. I did follow some of them on Youtube. The big ones like the old-school british ones and a couple of americans but when they reach the point that it is their job, I unsubscribe. (Aside from Hannah and Stefan Michalak. Go check them out. Their videos are absolutely stunning.

I like watching people who create content because they are passionate about it. Not because they are required to.

I don’t care about their fabulous lives and high living standards. I DO NOT CARE. I want to see how other regular people live and what they are passionate about.

Superhero TV shows

I’ve said it before, but I feel like I need to repeat it again. STOP. There are too many white straight costume-clad superhero.

I want more minorities represented in the superhero world, I want more powerful women in fantasy.

Let’s do it, please.

What are the things you wish you could live in 2017? Write me!

Stranger Things 2 – REVIEW

I can’t believe how much I loved it. (And yes, I know I’m a months late reviewing the show. I’ve been busy, people. )

When “Stranger Things” came out last year, I was not impressed. At all. It simply isn’t (or should I say “wasn’t”?) my preferred genre. (If you’re interested you can read my reviews here and here)

The day it came out I was working all afternoon so when I came home and asked my sister what she thought about it, she played it cool. She didn’t say much.

But since I almost had a weekend to myself, I binged it in 2 days. And what a magnificent show. Wow. I was truly impressed.

This season was on a whole new level. The acting is still amazing, especially from the kids. A big shoutout to Will because he was incredible. I was mesmerized by his performance. They explored every single person on the show, resulting in a fantastic character development.

And we all know who I’m talking about. Everyone’s favourite mom: Steve Harrington.

I still can’t believe how perfectly his character development was: from being kind of a dick, to an attentive, emotionally intelligent and responsible young man. He is truly my favourite person on the show.

And let’s talk about Billy (played by Dacre Montgomery)! A wonderful omage to Jack Nicholson’s characters in his various horror movies in the 80s.

Not having been around in that period of time, I am 100% sure a lot of the reference went over my head but this one was perfect. Dacre was so believable as Billy. A truly madman, a psycopath. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for him in Stranger Things 3.

Chief Jim Hopper was another pleasant surprise. I really had no opinion about him in season 1, but they deepened his personality, both his qualities and vices and turned him into an amazing character.

The only thing I truly didn’t like about this was Eleven’s storyline. Don’t make me talk about episode 7 because I’m already mad. Her living with Hopper was clever and their dynamic together was super interesting, but then the whole “I need to find my mother and sister” bullshit was just a big NO for me. Episode 7, in particular, was a total waste of my time. The only good thing that came out of it was “bitchin'”. That’s it.

Let’s change topic or I’ll get angry…

On top of the great storylines and performances by ALL the actors, the directorial style was new and exciting. Scarier than the previous season and perfectly in sync with the horror vibe of the show.

Even though I laughed out loud in the most absurd and violent parts, I completely fell in love with it. I’ve been considering watching it again this weekend. To be fair, it’s not like I have suddenly discovered this is my favourite genre, but the show has made me appreciate it a lot. I found many parts to be hilarious and incredibly funny, even when they were meant to be devastating.

Anyway, I’m already waiting for part 3 of Stranger Things. I’ll be thinking of Joe Keery in the meantime.

Stranger Things

To whoever is reading… Hello!!

Today I’m going to talk about Stranger Things. I finally finished watching it. I took me quite a while, because (contrary to popular opinion…) I didn’t like it very much.

It was good, well written, a spooky atmosphere and the children were amazing in it. But, at least for me it didn’t live up to the expectations I had. Everyone was raving about it, both people who aren’t into TV shows and fanatics like me.

Frankly, it’s not my genre. The supernatural world has never captured me. I tried, believe me… But the only things I actually like are Doctor Who, Fringe (one of my loves) and 12 Monkeys.

I like Stranger Things, don’t get me wrong!

The  actors who played Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Eleven were incredible. It is rare to see talented actors at such young age.

66-0-0
(Left to right) Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown

THEY ARE AMAZING!!!

The story itself is fascinating and the 80s vibes are STUNNING!!! The music, the clothes, the hair.. ❤ ❤ ❤

I love the suspense and some of the plot twists… TOTALLY UNEXPECTED!!!!

I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars…

I would recommend it to my friends… If they are interested in a thriller/horror series…

Personally, one of the few things that didn’t impress me is basically the core of the show. The supernatural element of it.

Yes, I know… It doesn’t make sense!!

I probably would have been fine with Eleven’s superpowers, because they are attributed to science! But, the weird world and the weird beast… nah… Not my cup of tea.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I would LOVE to hear your opinion on the show, so please leave a comment!

Have a nice day!
