Birthday Lipstick Haul 2017

Almost two months ago, I turned 21.

Every year, I buy myself a present. I’ve been doing it for many years and it’s a tradition I’m definitely going to keep.

This time I decided to go big. I had a terrible year. Up to now, the worst in my life. And even though I didn’t pass my exams and wrote a blog post all about it called “Failure” (#HappyTimes), I treated myself to A LOT of lipsticks.

If you look at my old posts in the beauty section, it will become pretty clear that I adore lip products. I have way to many but I still keep buying them.

Moreover, online prices are a lot lower than those in the store and I could not pass on the opportunity. Another huge advantage is that the website has a lot of american brands that otherwise I would not be able to get my hands on.

Along with the lipsticks, I have also bought quite a few facial scrubs and masks, but I haven’t tried them yet. Maybe I’ll do a seperate post on them.

So, let’s get into the lipsticks!!! There are 4 Maybelline “Colour Sensational Matte” lipsticks and one shade on the “Bold” collection.

IMG_7107 - mI got a nice range of shades, at least in my opinion. I have rosy pink, a perfect nude for me in the N°987 “Smoky Rose”. Then an orangy/redish shade in n°960 “Red Sunset” in that I’m not really sure about. The third one is a bright magenta, like a really in-your-face pink, in fact it’s called “Magnetic Magenta” in n° 950.

The next one is a red with a lot of pink in it. It’s in the n° 882 “Fiery Fuchsia”. Even though it’s not a matte shade, it’s still not glossy or shiny. It is basically matte, but a little bit creamier.

The last one is a dark red, a shade I’ve been looking for for ages and I ADORE it. It’s called “Divine Wine” in the n° 975.

The formula is amazing. Usually lipsticks don’t last on me. But this lasted through a meal, two 15 minutes bike rides in 33°C, 55% humidity and almost 6 hours without reapplying. And I sweated like crazy. THIS FORMULA IS HEAVEN. I’ll try to get my hands on as many of these lipsticks as I can. Thanks to Emily of “BeautyWithEmilyFox” for recommending them!

IMG_7108 - nThe next set of lipstick are the Wet ‘n’ Wild MegaLast. The three shades I got are E906D in Wine Room; E915B in Spiked With Rum and 917B in Cinnamon Spice.

I have heard so many people saying that they are dupes for some MAC lipsticks but I had all the bright and fun shades I wanted and but then I saw they had exactly what I have been looking for.

I wanted the kind of lipstick Monica from “Friends” wears. It wasn’t a red, it wasn’t a brown. To me, it looked like the wonderful muted brick red that I ADORE. AND I FOUND IT!! I got a three shades. A dark pink, a brown-ish/pink-ish one and the perfect dark muted red.

Everybody talked about the quality of the packaging being cheap. And it definitely is. One lipstick was also detached from the tube but I pressed it down, put it in the fridge for the night and now it’s fixed! They are matte shades, super pigmented and they are so cheap! I think I got them for 3€ each. I love bargains.

The formula is pretty good. They are matte but not drying. I went to a wedding yesterday and “wine room” stayed on perfectly for 5 hours, but it did not survive the delicious pizza I had for dinner. Obviously. I’m going to play with them more (especially during autumn and winter) but so far so good!

And last but not least, here are 3 more lip products!

IMG_7110 - oFrom the top, the first one is a Jordana Lipstck in the shade 35, “Rio”. It is matte but frankly it does not show up on me. It’s not bad. It’s not very pigmented and it’s too dry. To swatch it, I had to put so many layers to make it appear.

The last two are lipsticks from the Essence “Matt Matt Matt” collecion in n° 6 “Kiss me if you can” and n° 7 “Purple Power”. N° 6 is a deep red, but n° 7 is a beautiful purple. I’ve never had such a colour and for just 2.89€ each, I HAD to buy them.

I also got the shade in 01, but it’s a bit patchy and since I’m quite tanned right now, it makes me look like a cadaver.

The formula is very good. Not too creamy, not too drying. It glides very  well on the lips and it remains in good conditions even for 6 hours.

Let me know if you have tried any of these products and if you have any recommendations for me! Now I can’t buy any more makeup products for at least two months. But there are the sales now and I HAVE TO stock on some new and extremely cheap items!!! #TheStruggle 😉😉😉

Six months ago I bought so much stuff!!! If you want to check it out, here is the link for the haul!

REPOST:Somehow it got posted a few weeks ago instead of the actual date I posted it. Don’t know what happened!

Jenna Coleman

I love Jenna Coleman.

Actually, to tell the truth, when she was cast to replace the adorable Karen Gillian on Doctor Who, I did not like her. Sorry Jenna.

But as soon as I saw her with Matt Smith and the lovely character she portrayed: I was in love. The chemistry she had with Matt was wonderful. Absolutely stunning. And even though she left Doctor Who, I started following her career. And her fashion appearances.

Let’s just say that from soap opera actress, Jenna turned into a true queen of the red carpet. Although the majority of what she wears is something I would NEVER go for, it is still magnificent.

I particularly love her in this picture from the premiere of Victoria, the ITV drama about Queen Victoria.

I love this look. It is definitely something I would wear and I did. Several times after seeing this photo. I absolutely ADORE IT!

So I want to share the product I use in order to re-create this warm and, at the same time, sultry makeup.

I wasn’t able to find the exact products her makeup artist used (This is her instagram page), but I tried to make it word with whatever I have.

I apply the gold/coppery creamy eyeshadow by Pupa in the shade 002 all over the lid, blending it up towards the brow.

So then I take the orange and light brown shade from the palette mixed together (they have no names. Sorry.) and apply them on top of the gold eyeshadow, blending them until I get the shade I want. Then I take the same two colours and I apply them on my lower lashes. And you can go as low as you want and make it as grungy as you want.

Just to give it a little bit more depth, you can put some of this dark brown Kiko “Smart Colour eyeshadow in 05  in the crease or (what I actually do most times), close to the lash line and blending it with the other colours. Also, just a tiny bit into the outer part of the lower lashes.

Lots and lots of mascara and then the lipstick! This lipstick is the KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 317 “Wine”.

As a little bonus, you can take some sparkly orange eyeshadow and put a bit in the inner corner in order to give it some “pizzazz” (I think it’s a word.).

So, this is my take on the look. I have tried to take a picture of the look on me, but it is shit and I don’t want to post it.

Also, I got inspired by the look Emma (who has the beauty channel EmmasRectangle on Youtube) did. So if you want to actually see it, head over to her channel and watch the amazing tutorial she did.

Hope you enjoyed this post. It’s the first time I did something like this and I’m not sure if the format is right for me.
