Pretty Little Liars s07e16 – “The Glove That Rocks The Cradle” – REVIEW

ATTENTION! This review contains some strong language and (obviously) spoilers from the 16th episode of season 7 of Pretty Little Liars. You have been warned!

So, I decided to try a new way of reviewing this episode. Instead of typing, I am dictating to my phone. It’s pretty weird but I’m actually surprised by how quick and easy this is! And most of all, I’m having so much fun!!!

I have been pretty absent from my blog. And I’m really disappointed. I wanted to post more and to review these episodes as soon as they came out. The problem is: I’ve been so incredibly busy and too tired to create something cohesive that actually makes sense.
But I’m back and I’m so ready to talk about the last episode of “Pretty Little Liars”.

The episode begins with Spencer in the police station and she’s being interrogated by a police officer. You’re probably tired of reading me complain about him but Marco is just really annoying. At first, they have sex, then he arrests her. NOW HE HAS A MORALS!

2017-06-10 (8).png

Oh my god Aria and the stupid Aria on the phone. Please stop. Ezra and Aria talking about dancing lessons is adorable. But the entire conversation is so awkward. Ezra is suspecting something. Let’s not forget that Aria is still being a bitch and doing stuff behind her friend’s backs.

Oh wait, they are still going on about Lucas knowing Charles. And Caleb appeared again. Just to remind us that Spencer fell in love with Caleb. Ew.

2017-06-10 (9).png

Oh no now Ezra has to tell poor Aria about the book and I’m sure she is going to flip out. YES. DRAMAAAAAAAAAAA! And then there is no drama. Even on the last episode I was waiting for some drama between those two! Why are you torturing us. As we say in Italian: UFFAAAAAAAA!!

I’ve been slacking off, so when Hannah mentioned it I was like: “What does A.D. Stand for?” No, seriously. WHAT DOES IT STAND FOR?

Spencer is making one bad decision after another.
In fact, she steals a USB pen that contains a video of Lucas talking to the police.  And he’s throwing them all under the bus. And this delights me. I don’t really understand why Hannah is still protecting Lucas and why she still thinks that he is innocent. *massive eye roll*

Last episode it was great. I mean, there was so much information and so many things happening at once! I couldn’t keep up! But in this one nothing has happened it’s pretty boring. They only have four of five episodes left in the entire season and they are absolutely wasting them on stupid shit that nobody cares about. What’s the matter with Yvonne and Toby! I mean, nobody cares about that! Nobody!

Then some drama with Emily and Alison and the baby. I was really shocked about the revelation that the baby is actually Emily’s, but now I’m just bored. GO ON!!

What is up with that awkward conversation with Caleb and Spencer: “Hannah and I will not let you down this time”. Shut up and let me forget that the whole thing ever happened. Also, can we mention that horrendous jacket that he is wearing? Ew.

For once I feel bad for Mona. She is always left out of everything. She really just wants to be part of the group and nobody is letting her.

2017-06-10 (13).png

When I saw that both Emily and Alison were at school, the first thing that came to mind was that she was going to lose the baby. I wouldn’t have liked it AT ALL, but it would have been such a dramatical turn. And then they almost catch Aria breaking into the house destroying all of the baby’s stuff. This is completely ridiculous.

2017-06-10 (12).png

No but wait. Aria’s earring on the floor, in plain sight for Spencer to see, is ridiculous. I cannot believe that they actually did that. A couple of episodes ago I started using the word “useless” all the time. Now what perfectly describes this episode is: ridiculous.

Marco is upset because he realised that Spencer stole his USB drive. I hated to the two of them together and I think I hate them even more now that they are fighting. To quote my main man David Tennant:

https://68.media.tumblr.com/76694363e63cf27a92e3fcba1006ce8e/tumblr_mipiv66FkI1s3023qo1_400.gif

But now they’re confronting Lucas… for whatever reason. Oh now wait, of course there is a second book! Is this just about the stuff that Alison did when they were all in high school? BORING.

What is this shit about Emily “protecting” Alison and viceversa? I really liked Emily with Paige but now it seems like with the pregnancy and everything, they are pointing towards a romantic relationship between Emily and Ali. So now Allison is gay? Throughout the entire narrative course they never really talked about her sexuality (expect one kiss with Emily and some flirty scenes) and out all of a sudden she is in love with Emily? Well, apparently yes because she just said it and now they are smooching. I am not questioning her sexuality, of course! Just how quick everything has happened. It’s important that shows like this talk about sexuality and that being your true self is ok.

2017-06-10 (15).png

Aria is messing everything up, and frankly I am happy that she’s finally crying because if she hadn’t I would’ve thought that she was a robot: never showing any other emotion except fear and shock.

Anyway, these are my thoughts on the episode. I’m kind of excited to see what’s going to happen in the following episodes because so far I’ve been quite disappointed. I have the feeling that these 4 remaining episodes are going to be full of twists and turns and surprises. At least I hope so.

Let’s keep the leidmotif of trash going, please!

Georgia ❤

Pretty Little Liars – Season 7 Episode 13 – “Hold Your Piece” – REVIEW

ATTENTION! This review contains some strong language and (obviously) spoilers from the latest Pretty Little Liars episode. You have been warned!

[Present Me Writing:] I have posted the review for ep 12 a couple of minutes ago and as I was about to pick up my Uni book I decided to edit this review and post it. Otherwise in 2018 it will still be in the drafts secton. So…. Here is what I wrote a couple of weeks ago! Sorry again for the delay! I will explain in a future entry! Enjoy!

I’m back with episode 13! This one was a goody… I yelled at the TV more than once. I predicted almost everything that happened. I love this show so much!

The episode begins with the cell phone from A.D.’s board game waking up Spencer because it’s crying. Yes, the phone is crying like a baby.

Then the authors of the show tried to make us care about Toby’s fiancée. Don’t worry: nobody does.
The fiancée (whose name I don’t really remember but I think it’s Yvonne) still has a perfect manicure after a car crash. PERFECT, I tell ya. This drives me crazy every single fucking time. Oh, and she’s awake from the coma. Still: who cares!!!

2017-05-24.png

There’s also this think that bothers me: Spencer and the cop’s non-existent sexual tension is literally non-existent. NOTHING. WHY? Authors? WHY?

But my favourite part of the episode was the Hannah Doll. HILARIOUS! Hats off to the genius who thought about this insane thing. It’s so bad it’s amazing.

2017-05-10 (4).png

Caleb and Hannah are so smart that they bring it into the house?! 😂  COME ON!!! And the line: “Please see the appendix”: WHAT OTHER APPENDIX DID YOU THINK WE WERE TALKING ABOUT?! Hannah looked in the appendixes of the books she owned. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!! I guess it as soon as the doll said it!!! It’s fucking obvious!

And then the cop shows up again! JUST GO AWAY. That policeman (don’t remember his name ’cause I hate him) with the ping pong table. Really really boring!!!!!!!!!! I don’t care about his sad childhood!!!!!!!

2017-05-10 (2).png

[This is another fucking filler episode and I’m bored!]  Inner thoughts came through. I’m sorry. I was soooo bored.

Apparently, Toby’s fiancée wasn’t apparently his fiancée yet… Since he asked her to get married in this episode… I’m confused. Mostly because I’ve skipped the parts where they were involved. *wink wink*

Aria and Emily following the girl that looks like Jenna (SIDNEY! HER NAME IS SIDNEY!) is useless. (probably the most used adjective in these two episodes…)

But then Hannah cuts open the doll only to find a kimono that she has to wear to a meeting with Japanese investors. A.D. is pulling the racism card… I kind of feel bad for Hannah… 2017-05-10 (6).png

Then after some threats and other shit, there is a VERY awkward moment between Spencer and Caleb. Remember, they “dated” for a while. EW. Why they paired them together, I really don’t understand. Another favourite part was Caleb when got sprayed by the board game! WHY? JUST… WHY?

In the middle of nowhere, there is choir singing. What’s with the church music?! But of course, it’s for the happy nuptials! Toby actually got married to Yvonne!!!!

And I was so naive… I asked myself: “what if she dies?” followed a second later by: “she is soooooo going to die”. AND YES!!!  I predicted it!! She is dead!! I don’t mean to sound so happy, but it’s a character on a TV show, I hate her and… I KNEW IT! I WIN!

but after this joyous moment, I came to a realization and I askled myself: Is anyone else wondering where the fuck Ezra is?
Was the actor busy? Did they really think that this whole Nicole thing was plausible?!
Then Nicole is hiding in Ezra’s apartment?! WTF. WHY? WHY?

Before writing this, I thought this episode was me

2017-05-24 (1).png

Before writing this, I thought this episode was meaningless, but now I already have three favourite scenes. And the third one is the last one: the policed gets a severed finger in the mail… I LOVED THIS. LOVED LOVED LOVED. It was the most cliché thing ever and of course, they had to include it. AMAZING.

I hope the reviews aren’t too long for you. I have to comment on everything and this show is so ridiculous sometimes. I hadn’t read this review for some time and seeing it now made me realize about something I need to work on so I can get better… But you don’t really care about this. I’m just ranting. I’ll stop.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that I didn’t bore you to death. Let me know your thoughts on the episode. I write these posts so I can vent about stuff and I’d really love to engage in a conversation.

LOVE,

Georgia

Pretty Little Liars – Season 7 Episode 12 – “These Boots Are Made For Stalking”

ATTENTION! This review contains some strong language and (obviously) spoilers from the latest Pretty Little Liars episode. You have been warned!

So…. I’ve been terribly busy (Uni, my driver’s license and tutoring… I’m so sleep deprived) and reviewing an episode takes time. I’m sorry for the delay!

NOTHING HAPPENED IN THIS EPISODE. NOTHING.

What are the producers thinking? There are only a handful of episodes left and they are dragging this shit for miles!!!

it’s been a lot of weeks since episode 12, so I’ve had to skip through it AGAIN and it was painful. Let’s break it down (almost) character per character:

SPENCER:

Spencer existential crisis only remotely interesting thing that has happened here. I’m sorry about her screwed-up family and this situation is ridiculous, but at least there were some real emotions involved. Her stubbornness in finding her birth mother is totally legitimate.

2017-05-10.png

BTW to be perfectly candid, dear Spencer… DITCH THE COP! Such a useless and boring character! What is his purpose in life?!

One of the lines that made me laugh the most was Spencer saying: “Lock her up” to the cop guy because she wanted to get rid of Jenna Marshall. I kid you not, the first thing that came to my mind was when Donald Trump said it referring to Hillary Clinton. I pictured Spencer with a blond wig, power-red tie and fake tan yelling in front of a crowd of racists.

EMILY / ALLISON / PAIGE

The mini-Alison student called Addison. To quote Alanis Morrissette: “Isn’t it ironic??!” COME ON! IT IS RIDICULOUS!! SO BORING…

And of course, she works with Jenna Fucking Marshall. And she impossibly appears everywhere? Does she teleport to places? How the fuck does she do that?!!?

HANNAH

And what about Hannah’s dress? It’s ugly. Like, really ugly. The white version not so much but the other is definitely not my taste.

2017-05-10 (1).png

By the way, Caleb comes back and he delivers the fakest dramatic lines of the episode. Something along the lines of “Jenna, go the fuck away. I’m the smart tech guy and I’m threatening you.” Caleb, please… Get a better hair style and better facial hair. Also, go play with your hacking devices thing-ys and stop making empty threats. Thank you!

And Mona making the “Mona Lisa having a perm” joke was just…. No.

ARIA

Where the fuck is Ezra? No seriously. Where is he? Why isn’t he here? Why did they resuscitate Nicole? It is just one more useless thing they decided to add into the show. Just to fill in the 42 minutes. Ew.

2017-05-10 (3).png

And who the hell is this cook guy? He has been back for two episodes and I have seriously never seen him before. And it is so fucking obvious that he is into her. He is asking Aria if Ezra is the only person who said “I love you” to her… Mind your business, man!

I sympathize with Aria, she is struggling with her relationship with Ezra and frankly, he is being a dick…

I was kind of disappointed with the episode. Boring. Meaningless. Useless. Meh.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed it! I might sound over-critical, but I love it!!! Like every single episode of PLL.

Love,

Georgia 🙂

The Affair

“A struggling novelist and a young waitress strike up an extramarital relationship that promises to forever change the course of their lives.” is the synopsis on IMDb for the Showtime series “The Affair”.

Noah, a married with three children novelist begins having an affair with an also married waitress called Allison.

They meet for the first time at the beach town restaurant where Allison works and as spectators, we can immediately see the attraction between the two.

What captured my attention (and made me watch the following 9 episodes) was the two different point of views. For the first part of the episode, we only see Noah’s side of the story: his arrival in Montauk and his family; in the second part of the episode, we watch the same story happening from Allison’s prespective.

But it’s not just that: the story changes. It’s just tiny details, pieces of the same story that don’t line up. And you will have to watch until the very end of the episode to discover why.

And it’s good. Trust me. You will follow the story till the very end. And specially, you WILL WANT to.

It’s broadcast on ShowTime and so the amount of profanity, sex and violent is off the roof, which is totally predictable since it’s a show about two people having an affair. I cannot stress this enough: there is A LOT of sex. Probably more than I am comfortable with. No, scratch that, DEFINITELY MORE than I am comfortable with.

The thing about the characters is that you WILL hate them. There isn’t right and wrong, there isn’t a good character or a bad one. They are all quite despicable. One can be worse (depending on the point-of-view-part of the episode) than the other and this is exactly why I love this show.

At the beginning it bothered me a little: I was waiting for the “good one” to show up, the character that (even partially) is better than the others. But it didn’t. Because in real life there is no good or bad. People are a mix of both. And the two points of view enable you to see both sides, two truths or at least what they believe (or are pretending to) is the truth. Truth is mainly subjective and here is more evident than ever.

The show is so complicated because it explores human feelings, implulses, secrets, betrayal… It’s not sugarcoated and this is what I look for in a good tv series. You get so into the character’s souls and personalities that you start to feel what they feel: their anger, their sadness, their passion… It’s a rollercoaster of emotions for both the characters and us at home.

And we can’t forget how incredibly believable and talented the actors are!! Seriously amazing.

the-affair

Let me be honest: I started watching this because of Joshua Jackson. I basically fell in love with him while watching “Fringe” and well… “Dawson’s Creek” (Altough he looked completely riddiculus in 1998)… And here he is brilliant. You hate him, you feel sorry for him… And he is scary AF.

Dominic West as Noah is just perfect. You will like him, you will hate him (mainly hate him) but his portrayal is outstanding.

Ruth Wilson as Allison is spectacular… She completely shattered my heart in a million pieces. What a performance. She portrays grief is such a

And last but not least, Maura Tierney as Noah’s wife Helen is fantastic.

Both Joshua and Maura don’t have as much screen time as Dominic and Ruth, but when they do… Wow. Just wow.

“The Affair”‘s brilliancy isn’t only a product of my imagination but the show won 3 Golden Globes for Best TV Drama, Ruth Wilson for Best Actress in 2015 and Maura Tierney for Best Supporting Actress in 2016.

I think I have to stop writing because this post is long enough. But I could go on for pages and pages.

Oh, I almost forget. Listen to the main theme “Container” by Fiona Apple… It is dauntingly beautiful and it completely reflects the atmosphere of the show.
