Writing about all the positive things in my life seems the only option to distance myself from the chaos that’s around me.
As I’m writing this it’s May 19th and yesterday was the first day I ventured outside my house since the lockdown was put in place. I have been extremely busy both with my University stuff and my tutoring sessions.
Like a moron, I didnt’ plan any blog posts. Nothing. I had everything planned up until April but I didn’t think of May. There are so many things I’d like to talk about, especially TV wise and they will be posted. As soon as I sort my schedule.
That being said, I hope you and your loved ones are all doing well and that you’re staying safe.
And remember to read until the end to find out what my weirdest obssession of the month is!
I’ve been obsessed with this Youtube Channel for a month and I have no problem whatsoever to admit that…
I WOULD DIE FOR CLAIRE FROM THE BON APPETIT TEST KITCHEN.
If you’re not familiar with the segment “Gourmet Makes” on the Bon Appetit Youtube Channel, you should definitely check it out. Claire is a pastry chef who attempts to recreat popular food and make it gourmet.
It’s the most well made food related thing I have ever seen in my life. The vibe of the show is to die for and she is just perfect. You will laugh, you will empathise with Claire and at the end of the 40-minute video (yes, they’re that long!!!) , you’ll be happy and relaxed.
I really could not recommend this enough.
I started working out in February. For the first time in my life. So what was the first thing I did? Create a workout playlist with songs from the early 2000s. So this is what I’ve been obsessing over:
- Livin’ la vida loca – Ricky Martin
- She bangs – Ricky Martin
- Survivor – Destiny’s Child
- Womanizer – Britney Spears
- Candyman – Christina Aguilera
and so many more. It’s a delightful playlist and I love it.
I don’t usually venture out of the Crooked Media realm of Podcast but listening to this was the best decision I made during quarantine.
Kumail Nanjian and Emily V Gordon started this podcast at the beginning of March to help people through the lockdown and I have never felt so seen and validated in my entire life.
I don’t know what going to therapy feels like, but if it’s anything like listening to this podcast, I need to book a session with a professional.
I feel so seen and comfortable while listening to this podcast. It blew my mind. It’s deep, insightful and silly. Emily and Kumail have INSANE chemestry together (duh they’re married!) and it’s DELIGHTFUL.
I STARTED READING AGAIN! And then I stopped again!
But I began two books I’m really interested in and I know that once my exams are over (AKA mid June) I will pick them up and finish them.
I started a very cute and funny romance book called “Red, White and Royal Blue” by Casey McQuinston. It’s about the First Son of the President of the United States and the Prince of Wales who fall in love with each other!
Classic thrope of Enemies to Friends to Lovers (THE BEST ONE) and it’s fantastic. I love the political references and their wit. The book shines a light on bigostry and homophobia as well as a simple and adorable story between to men.
Then I finally started “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman and I’m really really enjoying this was well. I won’t spoil what it is about because with this one I think it’s best if you go into it blind, no knowing anything about it.
I don’t really watch many movies but I did watch two this month!
And now, my favourite part: TELEVISION!
NEW TV SHOWS
I am not into 2 our of the 3 shows I started. HBO’s “Run” felt promising but failed to deliver and I truly hated the characters. SKAM Italy was jut a guilty pleasure I couldn’t even enjoy because it was BAD. Really BAD.
3 SHOWS I’VE BEEN LOVING
I started a Psych rewatch in April and it was amazing. I had forgotten so many episodes! This show is so funny and ridiculous. Rewatching Stranger Things 3 for the first time since I saw in back in July was also a great idea. I really liked this season and I cannot wait to see what’s going to happen in the next one!
Better Things keeps getting better and better. This show has taken some creative liberties and the producers and writers have made bold choices in regards to it and I am loving it.
I represents life: at time you want to hate every single characters because they’re mean and entitled, and at times you realise people surprise you in the best possible ways.
THE BEST 3 EPISODES
Brooklyn Nine-Nine – Season 7 Episode 11
AND NOW IT’S TIME FOR THE HALLOWEEN HEIST!!!
Brooklyn 99 is still the best comed currently on air.
Homeland – Season 8 Episode 12 – SERIES FINALE
Homeland ended. I just wanted to give a shoutout to the show because it means to much for me a long time ago and I felt really sad I wasn’t that much into it lately but it still holds a special place in my heart. The ending was very Homeland-y but quite surprising and satisfying. I will miss it deeply.
Killing Eve – Season 3 Episode 01
How is it possible that this show keeps surprising me episode after episode? I’m on the edge of 40 minutes straight every time and I LOVE IT. This was a great season premiere even though MY HEART BROKE.
IT WAS SO UNFAIR. I can’t believe they did that.
SHOWS I FINISHED/ENDED
So many shows ended this month and I was devastated! While some of them are coming back (Brooklyn99, The Windsors and Elite), so many aired their very last episode:
I’ve been on a fitness journey recently and this guy has made it so much better. I love his energy and his positivity and… guys, Tanju is the best.
I hope you enjoyed this random selection of stuff. Write down in the comments your own favourites in this categories and share all the things you’ve loved in the past month!
