Reasons Why I got Angry at the 2019 Emmy Nominations

Contrary to what the title might suggest, I love the Emmys. I stay up all night watching the ceremony, I drink some coke or coffee to stay awake and I silently cheer when my favourite actor wins an award.

That being said, there were things that annoyed me this year. And yes, it is Game of Thrones related.

I also wrote about the shows that, in my opinion, were snubbed this year.

Game of Thrones Has More Nominees than Chernobyl

Game of Thrones (2011)

It’s petty. I know. I should not be annoyed that Game of Thrones has been nominated for more Emmys than Chernobyl: they are both terrific shows but this season of GOT was a disaster and although Chernobyl got 6, I am still irritated that GOT got more.

It’s petty and idiotic, I know but I don’t care.

This Is Us Me Rolling my Eyes

I loved This Is Us. Loved it. I raved about it when season 1 came out, I cried every week like a maniac for 40 minutes.

I won’t start rambling about how season 2 was still great and season 3 kind of annoyed me. The thing is: just because we cry in every episode (in season 3 I barely did.) doesn’t mean it’s good.

I haven’t been able to connect with it and were all the performances worth of Emmy nominations? I’m happy Mandy Moore was FINALLY nominated but it would have made a lot more sense in season 2 for me! She KILLED it in the episode where Jack dies.

I don’t know. Maybe I was a bit pissed off because I did not enjoy the season as much as I thought I would.

Have you seen “Janet(s)”? If so, WHERE IS D’ARCY CARDEN NOMINATION?!

Ted Danson, Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Manny Jacinto, Jameela Jamil, and D'Arcy Carden in The Good Place (2016)

D’Arcy Carden is in two major and successful shows: The Good Place and Barry. She’s amazing, extremely talented and a fundamental key character in The Good Place.

In the episode “Janet(s)” she LITERALLY plays almost the entire cast flawlessly and nobody gave her a nomination. NOBODY.

And this is a 20-minute comedy show! She was terrific and I’m angry.

… sure.

and we’re done. I guess this came out sounding pretty petty and angry. I don’t know why. I’m just venting. It’s fun.
