2018 in TV Shows

2018 has been a crazy year. So much has happened. I’ve stuggled a lot, made new friends, opened a new social network, my blog is actually being read…

It’s been hard, I won’t deny it. But I’m not here to talk about my personal life. I’m here to talk about my passion and one of the things I love most: television.

This year I’ve watched a lot of TV, I’ve explored so many new shows, found out new gems and watched some pure garbage. I also went back and rewatched old episodes! Bones, Castle, Psych, Friends, Fringe, New Girl…

And here is my year in Tv shows:

I started watching “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel”, season 4 of “The Peaky Blinders”.

I finally discovered “The Good Place“!!! And Tina Fey’s “30 Rock“! I started some new pilots I’ve acually continued watching, like “The Resident” and “Alone Together“.

Mozart In The Jungle” premiered it’s final season (Still not over it.), “Queer Eye” made me cry, “Homeland” came back for its 7th season. And last but not least, “Last Week Tonight”! And they did a whole desk piece about Italian Elections!

We watched Arie break Becca’s heart on national television and it was hilarious. I saw Netflix’s “Love” 3rd season and didn’t hate it. Surprisingly, I loved NBC’s “Rise” (Sadly it got cancelled after its first season).

Donald Glover blessed us with the second season “Altanta” and Bill Hader gave us the wonerful show that is “Barry“.
And the super nerdy and weird guys of “Silicon Valley” finally came back to our screens.

As Suits fans, we were finally given the continuation of the season 7 cliffhanger and we were disappointed. SHOCKING.

Suits ended its 7th season and we said goodbye to Patrick J Adams and Meghan Markle. And were were disappointed once again.

But aside from this, nothing big happened. I kept watching my weekly shows, watched a lot of Brooklyn99, some movies on Netflix and I even went to the cinema.

The worst day of the year happened. It was announced Brooklyn99 had gotten cancelled by Fox. and 30 hours later picked up by NBC. A true rollercoaster of emotions.

The Eurovision song contest happened and there was so much trash! I loved it!

New Girl” aired its last ever episode, I started “The Assasination of Gianni Versace” as well as TNT’s “The Alienist” and the australian show “The Let Down”. Westworld gave me an headache. NBC’s “Rise” was prematurely cancelled. UnREAL had a familiar face on the show. Jake and Amy got married.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married and I watched the whole thing.

Black-ish ended its fouth season with so much drama and tension.

I started watching Riverdale. And the obsession began. There was the 2 year anniversary of my blog.

I raved about HBO’s “Barry” (with the magnificent Bill Hader), summed up the first season of FOX’s “The Resident” and watched the “Sense8” special. “Queer Eye” season 2 made me cry and “The Looming Tower” scared me.

This was a good month. I watched so much good stuff! Starting with Phoebe Waller Bridge’s “Fleabag“, “Killing Eve” and the series finale of “12 Monkeys”.

I got angry at “The Bold Type” and binged all season 1 of “The Good Doctor” in a couple of days. And NBC’s “Good Girls” as well.

UnREAL aired its series finale and Suits premiered its 8th season. *epic eye roll*

And I got through the entire second season of “13 Reasons Why“.

Lots of rewatch this month! And a couple of movies! Deadpool 2, To all The Boys I’ve Loved Before and for the 4th time: “Trainwreck”.

I tried to watch Netflix’s controversial “Insatiable” and had a nervous breakdown. The worst thing I’ve ever seen on television. Maybe EVER.

I decided I wanted to suffer and I watched season 1 and 2 of “The Handmaid’s Tale“. Finally finished “The Assassination of Gianni Versace“, tried “Curb your Enthusiasm” and didn’t like it.

Started watching FX’s “Pose” and fell in love with it. Check it out. It’s amazing.

More movies! The Lonely Island’s “Hot Rod”, Oceans 8, HBO’s “The Tale” (Laura Dern was amazing), Happy Anniversary and Set it Up.

It was pilot season so most of September was dedicated to watching every single new pilot of the season and I was not impressed: F.B.I., Manifest, A Million Little Things, New Amsterdam, God Friended Me, Happy Together, I Feel Bad, The Neighborhood…

The Emmys happened! John Mulaney won! And Bill Hader! AAAAAA

Tried to give “Luther” a go and DAMN Idris Elba is hot.

Riverdale came back for its 3rd season and I started doing weekly reviews. All my shows came back! I binged Nick Kroll and John Mulaney’s “Big Mouth”, watched “Oh Hello on Broadway” for the billionth time and laughed my ass off.
I begrudgingly finished season 3 of Daredevil and got weirded out by “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”. And binged “The Good Cop” on Netflix.

A big NO to Lena Dunham’s Camping with my beloved David Tennant. I’m sorry David but that was garbage.

Went to the cinema and saw “A Star Is Born”. I do not get the hype. Not at all.

“Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj” landed on Netflix and I loved it! Aside from that, I don’t think I’ve watch anything new.

I kept my busy schedule of weekly shows and indulged in a lot of rewatches.

I started the documentary “The Clinton Affair” about the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky scandal. It’s good. I’m missing only part 6!

and I finally managed to see “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Hotel Transylvania

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel” premiered its 2nd season and I loved it just as much as the first. What a wonderful show!

My friend and I stared this irish comedy on Netflix called “Derry Girls” and we loved it.

ABC’s “A Million Little Things” was the only pilot I kept on watching and I plan to continue it. Great show with lots and lots of drama!

Overall, it was a good year. I found some incredible shows and watched some garbage. It’s been great. I’ve had so much fun.

I hope next year will bring more high quality TV, more diversity and more representation.

I’d love to know your top 3 favourite shows of the year! Let me know what you loved and what you hated!
