Top 5 2018 Tv Shows

2018 has been a great TV year. I’ve watched so many new shows, discovered some old goodies and rewatched Brooklyn99 SO. MANY. TIMES.

Here are the 5 favourite shows who premiered (or aired one season) in 2018:

Killing Eve

What a show. I loved it. Phoebe Waller-Bridge hasn’t disappointed me yet.

Sandra Oh plays Eve Polanski, an MI6 agent who is trying to track down a brilliant and very elusive assassin (Jodie Comer).

I was hooked from the first scene. It’s so magnetic! And there are two women as protagonists, with layers and complex personality traits.

Jodie Comer’s performance wasn’t acknowledge as much as I wanted to. She deserves so much praise. She was absolutely magnetic.

The writing is compelling, the acting is superb and… It’s just a GREAT thriller.

Watch it. Go. Now. WATCH IT.

If you don’t, go follow Billy Eichner. Thanks to him I found out about this show and I love it.

As I wrote in my review:

Fx’ s “Pose” juxtaposes the fierce, glamourous and very hard life of a group of transgender women of colour and their lives at the ballroom scenes to a thirty-something year old white guy who works for the Trump Organization.

It’s the first TV show with 5 transgender actors and it’s so good. It’s about family, belonging, love, loss, rejection, indequacy and it’s so glamour.

It’s set in the 80s in the years of the AIDS epidemic and it’s so devastating. I fell in love with it and I can’t wait for season 2.

Bill Hader.

That’s it. That’s my pitch for the show. Shoud be enough.

Jokes aside, this show is soooo good. It’s about an ex-marine turned hitman and his desire to become an actor.

…this ex-marine struggling with depression and PTSD, decides he wants to become an actor and that he’s actually talented enough to be one. Which he is definitely not. He joins a theatre group and meets all kind of different people…

Barry Seaon 1 – Review

Bill Hader wrote it, directed some episodes, starts in it and along with Silicon Valley’s Alec Berg, created a masterpiece.

The humor is so dark but it’s so unbelievably hilarious.

Check it out. It’s an innovative, funny, dark, twisted, dramatic and super weird show.

You won’t regret watching it.

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

If you’ve never head of “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel“… WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING ALL THIS TIME?!

Rachel Brosnahan plays Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a perfect housewife in the late 50s, married, with two children and a seemingly perfect life. But when her husband leaves her, she stumbles into the world of stand up comedy.

Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (who is also responsible for Gilmore Girls) and her husband, this show is FANTASTIC.

The design, costumes and scenery is perfect. The colours are so vibrant and it feels like you’re stepping in New York in the 50s.

Tony Shalboub is her father and he probably gives the best performance EVEr. He is incredibly talented and so funny. Let’s not forget all the other amazing actors Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen!

And Zachary Levi and Luke Kirby!

It’s so fun, ridiculous and overall brilliant. Watch it. You’ll have a wonderful time and you’ll fall in love with the characters. I guarantee it.

Big Mouth

How I didn’t watch this show sooner?! It’s so good!

Nick Kroll and his childhood best friend Andrew Goldberg created this cartoon and it’s about a group of kids going through puberty and their struggles.

I didn’t think I would ever like a cartoon but I did. It’s amazing. So funny, so stupid and so unbelievably weird.

And the cast! Let’s talk about the cast for a second: John Mulaney, Jenny Slate, Fred Armisen, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele and the queen… Maya Rudolf... And there are guest stars like Gina Rodriguez, Kristen Bell, Chelsea Peretti, Jack McBrayer, Craig Robinson, Zach Woods…

It’s a reall fun show about puberty, teenagers, consent, periods, contraceptions and more.

Queer Eye

Queer Eye was so queer and I loved it. I love all the 5 guys and it’s such a heartwarming show that makes you cry and smile.

I am obsessed! I never saw the older version but this one is amazing. Jonathan, Tan, Antoni, Karamo and Bobby are adorable and their empathy and will to help these “heros” improve their life is inspiring.

And these people have opposite beliefs to them (some of these people had MAGA hats and TRUMP – PENCE signs) but Queer Eye is a show that unites people.

I want The Fab 5 to be best friends with me!
