My Personal Fall TV Line-up – October

And now… See what premieres in October!

Check out my September Fall Premiere post!

RIVERDALE IS COMING BACK!!! I. NEED. MORE. BUGHEAD. AND. MORE. COLE. SPROUSE. IN. MY. LIFE.

My crush on him is weird. But I like him. And Lili. She is so pretty.

*starts daydreaming about them*

[25 minutes later]

Let’s get into it!

October 4th

Superstore

Risultati immagini per superstore season 4

Justin Spitzer’s show is cute but lacks something: good storylines and actually funny jokes. It might seem harsh but I was really disappointed by season 3. It did not make much sense, Amy’s pregnancy was stupid and Jonah’s relationship with the blonde girl (whose name, for the life of me, I can’t remember… Shelly? Cherry? Idk) felt like a joke who ran for far too long.

I’m curious to see how they are going to spin it into something that is watchable.

I mean, Spitzer worked on The Office! Come on!

October 4th

Will & Grace

Another season! So excited! I can’t wait for the Riverdale one liners, political jokes and overall gayness.

And Matt Bomer guests stars in it. Matt. Bomer.

October 7th

Doctor Who

Risultati immagini per doctor who season 11 posterDoctor Who is back! With a new Doctor who is a kick ass woman!!! I am so happy Jodie Whittaker has taken over the role! She deserves it so much!

And Steven Moffatt is GONE!!! He is no longer the show runner! I’ve been going my happy dance since the day it was announced.

Chris Chibnall, who also created Broadchurch, is the new person in charge of it!

I can’t wait. I’m really really excited.

October 10th

Riverdale

Riverdale is back!!! After a mysterious season 1, a second season filled with romance, weird ass stuff and a killed freeing the town from sinners, this third installment is going to be epic.

Full of trash, plotlines that don’t make sense, hopefully another musical episode and more Betty and Jughead.

I was so happy in season 2 when Archie was arrested. I hoped he would be gone for a while, you know…. in prison. So I didn’t have to see him making his terrible decisions. But no, he is still here.

Apparently with a serpents tattoo. *rolls eyes*

But I have exciting news! I’ll be reviewing every single Riverdale episode on this upcoming season! So keep your eyes peeled for that!

So. Much. Trash.

October 16th

black-ish

After a spectacular 4th season, full of important episodes and a four episodes arch into a more dramatic side, the Johnsons are back!

I didn’t really like it at first. I watched it without paying much attention to it but now I’m very attached to it!

They always talk about important social issues and… well… I have a huge crush on Tracee Ellis Ross. I love her. I find her extremely likable and adorable and I want us to be best friends.

October 19th

Daredevil

Daredevil (2015)

If you go through the shows I talk about, you might notice there is not a lot of fantasy / superhero stuff.

But I’ve been watching “Daredevil” since season 1 and I’d like to see how it continues.

I didn’t really like season 2. I did not care about he whole thing with Electra and the tension between Matt and Foggie was too angst-y.

I did binge season 1 in two days. I stayed up almost all night to watch it.

I don’t know anything about this third season but from the poster and the tagline, it feels like it’s going to be much darker than the other ones.

That being said, I’m curious to see what’s going to happen next.

October 26th

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix)

It is produced by the same guys as Riverdale and created by Roberto Aguirre Sacasa (who also created the comic back in 2014).

It was intended as a Riverdale spin-off but it’s going to be so much darker with a lot more horror elements in it.

I used to watch the old adaptation when I was younger and this is definitely something completely different.

It looks creepy and trashy and the birthday song reminded me of Betty singing it to Jughead on episode 10 of the first season of Riverdale.

I can’t wait to see if it is as trashy as Riverdale. This is so exciting!

October 28th

Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj

Hasan Minhaj in Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj (2018)

I’ve been a fan of Hasan Minhaj for a couple of years and I cannot wait for him to have his own show. This field pieces for The Daily Show along with his other segments are so good! He is funny, intelligent and thought-provoking.

You can watch his stand-up comedy special on Netflix “Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King” and you should definitely give a look at his Whitehouse Correspondents Dinner speech. It is AMAZING.

Patriot Act is created by Hasan and Prashanth Venkataramanujam, who was head writer on the WHCD. In his weekly talk show, they will explore America’s issues and trends that are shaping our ever-growing divided world.

I cannot wait!

and this is it!

Are you also planning on watching these shows? What do you think about them? Do you think Riverdale is too trashy… but you can’t stop watching it?

The Good Place – s03 ep 01-02 “Everything is Bonzer!” – SEASON PREMIERE

I love this show.

I love it.

I love the writers, Mike Schur, the cast, the production team, the producers. I love everybody.

No, I’m not stoned.

These are my actual feelings about “The Good Place”. If you haven’t check it out, go listen to “The Good Place: The Podcast“, hosted by Marc Evan Jackson. It is wonderful, amazing and super interesting. You really get the sense of how a network television works.

In this premiere, we see how Michael (Ted Danson) managed to get on Earth and save the four humans from their death, shoving Eleonor (Kristen Bell) out of the way and unlocking the sae where Jason was hiding with his snorkel.

Michael is now forced to interfere again: several months later, they haven’t improved and he pulls some strings so at least Chidi (William Jacson Harper) and Eleonor can meet.

Immagine correlata

In the meantime, Chidi has met a neurology professor, Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) who helped his almost (emphasis on almost) overcome his indecisiveness and Eleonor pushes them together, literally helping them asking each other out.

Back in “The Bad Place”, Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) is trying to bypass the Judge’s authority (MAYA RUDOLF IS BACK AND I LOVE HER!)

2018-09-29.png

Finally, Chidi seems to have found a topic for this thesis:

he will explore the effects of near-death experiences on ethical decision making.

https://ewedit.files.wordpress.com/2018/09/tgp_218y2982189290121.jpg?w=680&h=453

This brings him to find people who have had near-death experiences.

Hint: It’s Tahani and Jason.

Tahani’s life after Michael saved her is hilarious. Camila, her sister, is praised for saving her. Tahani then gives away all her material objects and puts some distance between her and her old life. She decides to go live in a buddhist monastery and after a while, she rises to stardom again by writing a book called: “Get out of the spotlight”.

Jason, on the other hand, is trying to win dance competition after dance competitions and his life is absolutely ridiculous.

Finally the humans are all back together but Shawn finds a way to interfere and sends someone on earth…

TREVOR!!

Adam Scott is back!!!! I love him. So. Much.

Jokes I loved:

  • “I’m a trash bag from Arizona, which is saying something. Our biggest exports are racist sheriffs and HPV.”

“I once got 12/12 on a Buzzfeed quiz called “Do you know all the slang words the Kardashian invented?”

Chidi is a living meme. I love him.

  • […] when I first read Aristotle I thought I was pronounced like “Chipotle”.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/_UQD6rjQBvE/maxresdefault.jpg

  • “My name Zac Pizzazz!”, said by a douch bag leather jacet wearing Ted Danson. It was hilarous.
  • “I want you thinking about dance 24/7, that means every day you think 20 thoughts about dance for (4) 7 minutes.”

“Claustophobic? Who would ever be scared of Santa Claus?”

This show is the best. I loved the way this new season was connected to the previous ones. I’m interested to see how they are going to explore this new opportunity!

And I can’t wait to listen to the new episode of the podcast!

And can we talk about The Doorman’s obsession with frogs? And The Judge watching NCIS?

I cannot wait for next week!!!

Did you see the episode? Did you like it? Was there a joke that made out laugh like crazy?

A Million Little Things – s01 ep 01 – “Pilot” – SERIES PREMIERE

[Attention! This post contains strong themes such as suicide, alcoholism and infidelity!]

ABC’s attempt at a “This Is Us” type show.

Ron Livingston, Romany Malco, Grace Park, James Roday, David Giuntoli, Christina Marie Moses, Allison Miller, and Christina Ochoa in A Million Little Things (2018)Instead of family, it all revolves around a group of friends: Eddie, Rome, Gary and Jon have been friends for a decade, they go to hockey games and spend time together with their respective families.

They had stuck together through think and thin, marriages, kids and even cancer.

At first, we meet them in the same moment, those few minutes that will change their lives forever.

We see Jon (Ron Livingstone) closing a deal in this office, Gary (James Roday) in a hospital gown, waiting to find out if his cancer is back, Eddie (David Giuntoli) on the phone, planning to leave his wife for another woman and Rome (Romany Malco) who is trying to end his own life by swallowing a ton of pills.

But it’s not Rome who dies: it’s Jon. He jumps off his balcony and kills himself.

We then deal with the aftermath of this tragic even, Gary telling Jon’s wife Delilah (Stephanie Szostak) that he is dead, we meet Rome’s wife Regina (Christina Marie Moses).

Stephanie Szostak, Christina Marie Moses, and Allison Miller in A Million Little Things (2018)

Gary hooks up with one of the other cancer survivor at his therapy group, Maggie (Allison Miller)…

… who he later brings to his friend’s funeral.

Eddie gives a powerful eulogy, talking about Jon’s belief that everything happened for a reason and the instrumental role Jon had on his sobriety.

In between these events there are little flashbacks of previous ones, like Rome’s attempt at suicide or Ashley (Christina Ochoa), Jon’s secretary, unresolved mystery of hiding a folder with Delilah’s name on it and Jon’s last phone call, which was to Eddie.

After the wake, Eddie, Gary and Rome go to a hockey game, a tradition the group of friends has had for a long time. They all got season tickets, because that was the thing they all had in common when they met, stuck in a faulty elevator for 2 hours.

Romany Malco and Christina Marie Moses in A Million Little Things (2018)

There are secrets after secrets that are being revealed throughout the episode, like Regina’s failed restaurant, Rome opens up to his friends about his suicide attempt, Jon’s last deal was buying a building for Regina’s new business venture, the contents of the folder with Delilah’s name on it, something called “Rutledge” and we find out who is the woman Eddie has been having an affair with:

Delilah

Jon’s wife.

I was shocked. For a moment. I should have probably figured it out, it might have been obvious but I am tired, okay! And I took some medicine that is making me loopy.

A Million Little Things (2018)

Honestly, I was entertained. It was not nearly as emotional as “This Is Us” but this is not just focused on friendship and family. It’s a more soap-opera version of NBC’s hit that does not only involved feelings but there is a mystery component to it.

People are hiding secrets and just from this first episode, we are perfectly aware that once they will come up, they will shatter these people’s lives forever.

I’ve missed James Roday on my screen. I’ve been a fan of Psych for a loooooong time and this more dramatic role suits him perfectly. I am not familiar with the rest of the cast but it’s very well-done.

It’s not that glossy Riverdale-like show where everybody looks perfect all the time. Sure they are all good-looking people, I mean, guys… It’s ABC. But they tried to give it that indie/rugged vibe and it kinda works.

This was in my “Shows I’m Keeping an Eye on” and I will definitely be watching again next week.

What did you think about it? What do you really think happened to Jon (because remember? We did not see him actually jump!)? Are you intrigued by the story? Did you like the show? What are your thoughts on it?

F.B.I. – s01 ep 01 – “Pilot” – SERIES PREMIERE

I do not have great expectations about this show and this review is going to be extremely brief. This was part of my “Lawyers and Law Enforcement Pilots” post.

In the first three minutes I had already seen something that was bothering me:

This shot:

2018-09-26 (5).png

and the collapse of the building. Seriously? What was that?

And everyone is super intense! They are saying their lines with their eyes half closed and eyebrows frowned.

I was reading the credits and… it’s produced by Dick Wolf? Law and Order’s Dick Wolf?

[Future me here… According to my previous post, I already knew it was a Dick Wolf produced show and completely forgot.]

Ok the dialogue is bad. Think of all the most common police/FBI lingo you can imagine and I can assure you, they have probably said it.

Also, ding ding ding ding!!!

Second super fake explosion!

14 minutes in… I’m bored.

Okay, now they’re interrogating a possible MS-13 gang member and oh, guess what? The other suspect is an African American drug dealer.

and again… guess what? The cops are white.

nbc brooklyn 99 GIF by Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Did we really need another show to confirm Fox New’s audience’s crazy theories on immigration?

To make the tough agent more soft, they gave him a fear of spiders? WHAT?

Wait… and now they are going after a White Nationalist guy?

WHAT?!

And they are talking about health care now?

What baffles me is that a not very well-made TV can say “Nazis are bad” better than the current President of the United States.

And they made a “tiki torch” reference to the Charlottesville events of last year?

Has this become a relevant show? Is it actually reflecting the political lanscape of America’s society?

Mmmmm…. YES! It fliped halfway through! There is even a newsanchor saying: “That’s just code for racist victim blaming. Systemic institutionalized racism is the real…” and she gets cut off by her co–anchor!

WHAAAAAT?!

Oh no the protagonist’s husband died recently. I’m sorry.

They accused the Nazi! Because he did it! You fucking monster. Justice was served and he got arrested! And they prevent another bomb from destroying the city. Great.

I will not keep watching the show. I am not interested in another procedural TV show about law enforcement.

The music makes you feel like somebody is going to go terrible wrong at any minute and it’s just too much.

At the beginning, I was angry but than the show literally flipped! Was it to trick the audience? Because it worked.

Also, as soon as “Executive Producer Dick Wolf” appeared on the screen at the end, I was expecting to hear the familiar Law & Order theme… But I didn’t.

To sum up: Meh but better than I expected.

Did you like the show? Did you see the pilot? What are your thoughts on it?
